No, people jump the cast members that have new pins and put the fake ones on.

Cast memebers don't get a new refresh everyday. It depends on the lead.

In merchandise they have a box of lanyards for your work place and you can pick one each day. The Lead refreshes those periodically but will refresh all of them.

Custodians get to keep their lanyard at all times and may request new pins every couple of weeks from their manager.

Because I worked there? The pins come in sets of 5 and you get 5-10. If you know they're scrappers when you turn them in you can tell the lead and they'll throw them away.

do they refresh in the mornings then? i never find any good pins altho i love to trade when i go. should i be checking lanyards first thing instead of running to a ride at rope drop? i don't get to go to wdw very often but have a trip coming up. thanks for any advice on trading with the cms you can offer : )

I worked here in California but I'm sure it's about the same in WDW. The centers for the cast members are a little ways from where they actually work. So they get the pins usually at the begining of thier shift. Since most shifts are 8-6 hours..it's best to find them in the early mornings then when the second shift people arrive so about 6-8 hours after opening. (custodians start 1-2 hours earlier then the park opening though)

Center for the pins in WDW is in the utilidors right under the park for the Magic Kingdom. Not sure about the other parks. What we were told on the Keys to the Kingdom tour (where they take you down there) is the cast members can go down to the person working at the center for a refresh anytime.

(They also have some verrryyyyy nice pins hanging on the wall)
Though who knows they could be telling the people on the tour something different than how it actually works. But I do recall someone saying before that they'd send the employees under them down to refresh if they had a lot of obvious fakes at some point.

That sounds alot like what we do. I guess I was just lucky since the start of my shift started AT the center usually. They encouraged you to typically hold onto your pins for a bit though; I assume it's because they had a problem with some cms trading in their scrapper filled lanyards and taknig the new ones...so you have to do it at the beginning of a shift.

I found a bad *** Donald and figment pin le3500 on a cast member earlier this week, it's my favorite find so far, but I've found plenty of nice le pins on cast lanyards before. Yes, they're rare, but they can be found.
