I live in the US and I'm sure this is a stupid question. I know tracking numbers are pointless when shipping to Europe. However, when I ship pins to Canada, would a tracking number/delivery conformation number be beneficial? I don't remember if any of the pins I got from Canada actually have dc# on them. Thanks.
 
I never seen tracking numbers either....as for the DC# being useful..I could not answer that for you,but it would be pricey to add it though
 
Hello from Canada!

From the U.S. to here, the D/C will not track across the border (and it often stops at the 1st distribution centre). To get tracking across the border you'd have to spend a ridiculous amount of $, so you won't want it unless you're shipping a pin with a very high value. BTW: you can still ship pins to Canada for $2.25 - ask me how if you're not aware of this option.

From Canada to the U.S., the inexpensive options also do not have tracking, and Canada Post does not have tracking numbers for those packages.

Like any other international package, please mark the customs form as 'gift' and keep the value at $25 or less.

So true pargani. Wish it were otherwise, but cross border shipping is just not trackable without paying through the nose. Better option would be to insure the package if you are truly worried about it, but to be honest I have had only 1 or 2 problems over 11 years plus of shipping from Canada to the US. (One lost that I think was a bogus report from the other party b/c I never received their package and I suspect they kept theirs and never sent it but not proveable). Anyway, I have sent packages internationally containing up to 300 pins that have successfully reached their destinations with no problem and the reverse as well, so I haven't worried much about tracking as things are good. (fingers crossed lol)
 
The least expensive way to send a package to Canada or anywhere else it to send it registered mail. I think it is about 8 dollars extra. Or at least that was what it was the last time I did this to England.
 
OK, I have been asking some questions to my local PO about this with the new rule changes, plus I have recently sent 2 very expensive pins overseas that I wanted better record of

Registered Mail is now $12.50 and is USPS trackable only (can not track online). Theoretically, it requires the receiver to sign for it, BUT that is dealt with on the local level, as the 2 I sent they were not made to sign.

If the package is shipped as a package internationally, not a large envelope rate, it is supposed to be able to tracked online by the Customs Number XX 111 111 111 XX. Mind you, to send one pin overseas or to Canada, that jumps the price from $2-$3 to $6-$7 per envelope.

Do you mean the cheapest option with cross-border tracking?
