We're five days away from Event Registration, and still no pin catalog.

Come on, merchandising! Give us something to chew over...

Here's hoping for a fuller, more diverse catalog than last year, or the Florida Project.

I agree about the diversity. I didn't even go to the Florida project because like 90+% of the pins were the fab five or Chip & Dale. They were fine pins, but they just didn't fit my collection...

I'm in the same boat. My honeymoon trip can easily accomodate an extra day or two for the pins at the event, but I don't want to spend that extra money if the pins don't fit a collection or my taste. Not trying to resell you know!!!

Sorry, which event are you referring to?

Every year, WDW hosts the biggest pin event of the year at EPCOT, usually held around September. Since they change the theme every year, we tend to call it "the September event".

It's usually about $100 to go (this year it's $140), and you have to have a pass for EPCOT, as well. They hold it in a pavilion between Canada and the UK- someone once referred to it as "Iceland", which I thought was amusing.

Inside, you can trade, play pin trading games, that kind of stuff. They usually have an auction for lots full of AP/PP stuff, sometimes a trivia contest, etc. And every year, they release a ton of stuff for the event. Previously, it was mostly pins. But a few years ago, they added vinylmation (and eventually gave Sunday to vinylmation collectors all together, with a separate price tag). Last year, half of the catalog was other merchandise, which was a first. Things like t-shirts, statues, posters, etc.

The pin catalog usually comes before the event, so you can decide if you want to go. The have a random computer selection process (called the RSP) to do lottery-like drawings for who can buy what beforehand- we just submit what we want, and then they do the drawing to what you can buy. This keeps us from having to stand in long lines to get the harder-to-get stuff.

Here are the details:

I love the title of your post. LOL. Before I got into pin trading/collecting we where at Epcot while this was going on. It was fun to see everyone with their pins.

T minus 2 days. Any news of the catalog?

Nope. I mean, I'd be surprised if they didn't release it before registration, so maybe tomorrow?

Hell, I was expecting some stuff in the Preview section at the PTN, so if we don't get it tomorrow or Tuesday...it would be very weird.

I'm just thinking back to last year... Wasn't registration for the event more like mid-May?? I remember that I was at WDW when it happened, and I'm usually teaching until the beginning of May, so my vacation would have been mid-May. If registration is earlier than last year, it is possible that we won't see the catalog before we have to register??

UGH!!! Still nothing! Hopefully they post it tomorrow morning prior to registration start time. My DVC waitlist for BWV just came through, so I am more comfortable making the decision to go without seeing the catalog, but I really, really want to see it anyway. Just in case...

Oh, ok. Thanks for all of the information! It sounds like they might have Lion King pins and items, since I'd definitely think they'd consider Lion King a best in animation!

Good luck to those who are trying to go!

Well, I guess we're getting it day of, or maybe even later. A new first.

Just more proof that the pin staff is overworked and/or understaffed, now that they're part of merchandising...

I can't really register until I know if my husband needs to come, and I won't know that until I see the pins.

So how do you register? Shouldn't there be a button for that? Am I missing something?

EDIT: No button, just click on the script writing that says 'Register for this event'. Duh...
