Based on what you've written I think you know your own mind on thisIt seems you feel the Rapunzel/Flynn pin is worth more based on everything you cited and I happen to agree. The edition size is more limited, it was arguably more difficult (at the very least expensive) to purchase the set, it has stronger want to trade numbers.
My opinion is biased though as I'm not a fan of the Marquee pins and happen to love that Flynn/Rapunzel pin. Ultimately it is up to youIf you do trade, I think it is very reasonable to ask for a multi-pin trade since IMO Rapunzel/Flynn is worth more.
In my opinion, you're overanalysing this. I don't think the amount of people who are trading the pins is a good base to decide on whether it's fair. You have to take into account that the Frozen marquee is newer so, naturally, more people still have it to trade.
As for whether it's fair, I don't know. That's personal. If you want to trade for Frozen marquee + another pin, try it. I'm sure someone will bite eventually. And if no one bites, you can still reconsider trading the marquee alone.
I would say they are barely comparable but that is just my opinion.

For me, Trades:Wants ratios are the single most important criteria I use when trading.
The next important criteria for me is edition size.
I think that the huge differences in Trades:Wants ratio and editon size makes this proposed trade a woefully off-balanced one.
May I ask at what price you were unable to sell your designer couples pin?
I consider myself a collector, so I am absolutely new to trading and your criteria makes sense. So in other words, you are saying that I would be over-trading the D.C pin for the marquee?
Then what should I take into account when wanting a fair trade? I thought most people base a trade on a pin's wants vs. trade ratio? Like, I don't see anyone wanting to trade a low to want vs trade ratio with a highly wanted pin. The Frozen marquee came out last year like the Designer Couple pin. And the latter has an edition size of 250, whereas the former is at 500. I, personally, think that people are trading the marquee to get keepers for their collection, while folks who have the D.C are keeping them because they are a bit special.
But if you don't mind sharing, how do you make your bases for a fair trade?
I can't say that for you. If you feel like your designer couple is worth more than the Frozen marquee, it is worth more. Many people trade differently I have noticed, some do it by $ value, others by want ratios, or both.
And of course! You'd obviously not trade a pin that 400 people want and 3 are trading for one that only 31 people want and 60 people are trading. And you're right, many people want the Frozen pins to trade because there are still way more Tangled collectors than Frozen collectors (that's my observation anyway).
As for me, I don't have many shots at trading such rare pins but if I would have a designer couple, or something like that, I'd probably consider a trade around the same value. I think that if I were in your situation, I'd imagine what I can get for the asking price of your designer couple and go in that direction. So if you wanted to ask $290, I'd trade for something around that value because you would've gotten that eventually if you'd sell it. Or whatever amount you value it at now, of course. And I do think the designer couple is selling for more than the marquee, at the moment. Unless the marquee climbed in price. (In short lol: I do think you should ask more than the marquee.)
To me, the Designer couple you have would be outpaced by, say, the Cross U Frozen Snowflake pin. I mean, that one is selling for $400+ on ebay and was very limited. I don't think the Frozen marquee on the other hand compares to this pin really. Frozen merch is largely hot right now because there isn't much selection and what is there flies off the shelves. Eventually that bubble will burst in my opinion. I think it will always be popular and highly collectible, but not as inflated as now. The designer couple pins I think will retain more constant value (plus I think they are way cooler). To me, an OE and marquee is not worth it. Don't worry about feeling like a shark, then later regret a lopsided trade. Ask for what you want and think you deserve, if no one bites, then maybe re-evaluate. Perhaps put the pin up for auction here and specify the Frozen marquee is a tops dream list item to include if a bidder wants the best chance to win? That way people will almost certainly give you a quite competitive offer for it.
I just want to say to all the people thinking Frozen bubble will pop...I wouldn't count on it. It is the single biggest movie for Disney ever. You will see Frozen from now on. I'm sure they are already working overtime on how to get more Frozen into the parks and merchandise and tv etc. I am pretty sure we'll see a Frozen Sing-a-long every year around Thanksgiving/Christmas too. Like El Capitan plays NBC every Halloween, they will play Frozen from now on too. In 5-6-7 years from now it will be a massively expensive pin. Especially if DSF continues to do marquees for each year like they do for NBC. Look at Tangled. It went from $150 a year after the movie to $250 to $400 2 years after and now 4 years after it's $750 and was a high of $1000. I can easily see Frozen marquee being $500 for the long term or higher.
Designer couples on the other hand. A lot of people, like myself, swore the off with the absolute crap Disney pulled at D23. They mostly went into resellers hands too. It's an ok pin, Flyn's eyebrows look like Eugene Levy, not Eugen Fitzherbert. Supply and Demand rules the roost and supply for Frozen marquee might be higher but demand, I think is much higher. $200 Tangled pins plentiful. Frozen pins there are only a dozen or so good LE ones now. I think many newer traders that want the marquee are not on pinpics. Pinpics was still fairly active during last years D23 Expo. PTD's and Frozen are what is demanded these days. Both kicked off post-pinpics haydays.
I think it is an ok trade if you really want the marquee and they really want the couples, but based on eBay sales, which lets be honest 90% of todays traders check, would say "I'll sell my marquee and buy 2 couples pins. Tangled and my other 2nd favorite." So good luck asking for more. I think you've got a hard sell at even let alone trying for extra. Maybe to the right trader who does care about T/W. Even quoting those to many newer traders they still go straight to eBay sold and that is hard fact you're up against.
Whatever you decide, good luck in your trade!
Lessee... if you're just looking at ebay sales:
DFC Rapunzel/Flynn last sold for $250. It was hotter when it first came out, but in March, it sold for $197.50 and in April, it sold for $344.
Frozen Marquee last sold for $301.01. In April, it sold for $292.77, $359.99, $275, $260, and $235. In March, it sold for $222.50.
So Rapunzel/Flynn, while it is a lower LE, has had fluctuating prices. I remember last year, it went for around $400-500, but now it has fallen. If you're looking to sell it, you may be lucky to get $300 for it as the highest price was in April and it had dropped in May.
Meanwhile the Frozen Marquee -like most Frozen pins- have kept going up. The average price it sold for in April is $284.55. From March - $222.50, to April $284.55, to May $301.01, the prices are steadily increasing. I don't remember how much the Marquee went for originally (when the pins were just released). Was it $100? So, then since November when it was released, the prices have gone up month by month.
If you're only looking at SELLING either pin, you *may* get more money from the Frozen Marquee. If you're looking at whether or not you want to keep it for your collection, then it really depends on you - which movie (Tangled or Frozen) do you like better / do you have your collection based around - and whether or not you'd be happier with one pin versus the other.
