For those of us left behind ~ I thought we could commiserate why we are not going to Florida Project!

I am bummed my daughter and I won't be there this year ~ it gets a bit on the sad side as I know the days are approaching for the event.
Not only do we always LOVE the events, we also love our time together! (everyone else here at the house doesn't "get" our pin addiction!)

Rebekah and I won't be there for these reasons:

I now work outside the home ~ I have homeschooled my five children for 20 years ~ but I found a FANTASTIC SCHOOL for Rebekah where she goes Monday, Wednesday, Friday, yet I still get to homeschool her on Tuesdays and Thursdays. :0) She & I both LOVE it! (she is the last of the children still in school) But it is expensive ~ so now I have a job and it would be difficult to get away.

But the main reason we did not go is because in all honesty I just didn't like the pins, or the purchase-with-purchase pins, or the Vinylmations they offered this year, so it kind of took the steam out of trying to figuring out all the schedules to go.

However I will miss those of you I have met in the past! and feel a missed opportunity to meet those of you I do not know!
And I will be bummed that I won't get the Walt Pin ~ that was the only pin I liked this year.

:wavey: To Those Who Are Going :wavey:
Have A MAGICAL Time!! :) and I hope you have MAGICAL FINDS! :)
And please be sure to post your stories and pictures for those of us left behind! :)

I am just not interested. I will go one of these days, but probably when they have pins I want.

Reasons I'm not going...

(1) I couldn't schedule a vacation.
(2) I didn't really like any of the pins.
(3) My annual passholder expired and I'm not going to pay $300 or more just to get into Epcot to go to this event--why can't they do it OUTSIDE of the parks?!
(4) I had major drama in trading at Trade City last year (traded for very rare DA100 pins for traders, tried to trade them, and was told they were fakes even though they looked fine) and just didn't feel like having more.

I'm not going because the theme this year is TERRIBLE. And I took three weeks vacation in August, and am therefore completely out of vacation time. But in all reality, I would have properly budgeted my vacation time if I was going to actually attend this event. If there was something a little more enticing about the theming and merchandising, I would have made the effort to have gone.

I would love to be going. A lot of the pins do not really appeal to me but that was not a big deal as you can get a decent price on ebay if you wait long enough to buy them so I never worry too much about whether I like the pins or not. What I love is just getting to go, to meet other traders, do some fun trading and line up for pin boards...lol I just like the fun of being there more than anything.

The reason I am not going is b/c I am taking the kids and going down at the end of Oct for a week and doing the Halloween Party so there was no way I could afford to do 2 trips in a row like that. I sure wish I could have as I am so crazy jealous and totally wish I were going right now but I am looking forward to my oct/Nov trip and hopefully I can at least meet up with some of the locals while I am down there since we will be in downtown Disney quite a bit. ;-)

I was ill for three months and had to cancel our trip.
Got behind in bills paying $90.00 a week for breathing therapy 3 days out of the week .
Need to focus on catching up on the bills .
Look forward to the CNJPT'ers event in October .

I would have loved to go but...

1) FL Project theme did nothing to inspire me
2) Pre-release look at pins did nothing to excite me or persuade me that I would be missing anything
3) Extreme cost of attending after San Diego Comic Con and D23 - flight across country / park admissions / hotel
4) By executive order of the President, all overtime at my office was cancelled until just last month.. no money even if I wanted

But the main reason remains: none of the details of the event persuaded me that I would be missing it if I could not attend.

I'm sad reading your stories about not being able to go. The pins are one reason I go, but meeting people and enjoying the fun is the main reason. Just so you won't feel so bad, it is supposed to rain everyday we are at the event. So that should be some consulation for you guys. Hope to see you ALL next year.

I am not going for a very different reason. Actually I LIKE the theme - as someone who remembers the WDW opening year I find the theme interesting. BUT as a Villains collector there is nothing for me this year.

Main reason is the 10th Anniversary of 9/11. I worked in NYC about 6 blocks from the Trade Center and witnessed the "event" live and up-close. I just do not want to be away from family and close friends on this sad anniversary.

Ugh...I can't even imagine....that must have been horrible to see in person. It was bad enough seeing it on TV, but the added emotion of actually being there....

I was actully in WDW and was supposed to fly back that day. It was very strange being in one of the happiest places in the world when something so horrible is happening.

Anyways, back to the topic at hand, I'm not going just because I wasn't sure how busy work would be and the pins didn't really excite me so I never made the effort to find out if I could take the time off.

I wanted to go this year, I liked the theme, I liked the pins. I liked the pins so much that everything I put on my Dad's RSP = "enough to qualify for the Figment PWP pin". But it came down to either having money for the pins and staying home, or having money for the plane ticket/registration fee but not to buy any pins. I already was in WDW in May for the D23 40th event and scavenger hunt. And this year is our year to go to my parents, and therefore WDW, for Christmas. Fitting in a 3rd trip was just too much. So I went with "staying home, but getting pins." My parents and friends of the family that we normally go to the event with are going, so they will get me the pins off the board, event gifts and the scoop from the event. I'm sure this one will be a good one because I'm not going. It seems like the years I don't go, there are more free pins, trips to a room to get a Jumbo AP, etc. The years I do go, nada.

I was planning on going this week but decided that being in MK on Oct 1st to me was more important!!! since its the 40th anniversary of WDW and this coming Dec 15th Im celebrating my 45th bday and this is what i wanted for my bday to be in WDW on the 1st. as a way to honor Walt Disney on what will also be the 45 anniversary of his death on my bday!!

Im not really bummmed!! as i have a friends getting me pins I needed!!

Living in California makes it a little too expensive to go. Also there is no way I can take time out from my job right now as we have 5 theatrical productions in various stages of development and we're trying to launch our new audio dramas in time for Christmas.

If audio dramas are your thing, check out our website at www.theaterontheair.com.

The more I think about it the more I realize I could have gone.

a) If I had gotten a sponsor that would have saved me the ticket price to get in.
b) I wouldn't have been spending money on pins since none of them appealed to me.
c) I have a 7 day pass to all the parks in WDW that doesn't expire, so no money there
d) I probably could have worked something out with skymiles to get a flight for free
e) My fiance is out of town for 3 weeks in Europe and so I won't be go on any dates or have any fiance duties :)
f) I'm currently subbing in the school district and can take time off whenever I want
g) I have multiple friends that live in the surrounding cities that would have let me stay and borrow a car

Wow... why didn't I go to the Florida Project?? :/

I've been trading for roughly 10yrs and I've NEVER been to event despite being local... I've never cared for the merchandise anything I HAVE to have I trade for, I do wish I could sit and trade but can't justify the cost just to sit there and trade, I have heard they are great fun, but with five kids that's my pin buying budget right there =)

I have four kids... The pins would be nice to have but I was kind of shocked that they weren't as good as the sci-fi pins. I alsso live over a 1000 miles away. I want to take my wife to Disney world in feb. So everything added up means an un-happy checkbook. Which means an un-happy wife cause of to much working. Which means an un-happy couch stay. Which leads to an un-happy back. Which leads to an un-happy boss cause I can't work as hard. So the cycle repeats... So I will wait to go in febuary. I'm hoping they have an event then!!!

Enjoy everyone that is there!!! Happy trading!!!

1. I didn't care for the merchandise.-pins
2. I didn't care for the merchandise- vinyls
3. As much as I have enjoyed past pin events at Epcot, it irks me every time that admission into the park to attend the event requires 1 day of admission off my park ticket. It's fine for those who live close and have annual passes, but, for those of us who don't, it is another expense to add on. They NEED to either have the event in a hotel, or allow folks without an annual pass in the park free the days of the event.

Because I want my kids to be able to go and they don't have a child's ticket. They should. No RSPs or merchandise. Just entry. So, we are going October 7-11 and I am betting I will see some of that leftover merchandise!

Snazzy - if you'd have come, I'd have gone just to meet you!

You can bet on this as it has been the case since pin trading started.

I collect Stitch and they are not releasing any. Also, it is hurricane season and the weather is awful right now. Wish they did this at the end of October.

Hi Spiffie,
Have missed you! Good to see you and will send e-mail later. Guess you decided not to go after all.
