Its just too hectic for me to try and collect too many things. I would like your opinions on this if you have the time. :)

Okay, collections I'm definitely still collecting:

Hitchhiking Ghosts and Haunted Mansion
Phantom Manor (Completist Quest)
Big Thunder Railroad
Disney Trains

Most pins that are not in these catagories I will be trading that means. Even my PODM, which happens to be the best scene from Lonesome Ghosts (all four on the phone). Though there will be a few exceptions.

But I am actually now going to mainly focus on my completist quest of Phantom Manor pins anyhow. I really want to complete that collection and would be most grateful for any assistance... I've been trying to complete it for quite a while now. And the fact I recently went on it again has made me want to complete the collection even more... its such a beautiful ride.

What do you guys think? You ever have to downsize your collection?

Good idea! I have, I started buying just uk pins as they were easier to get over here, so my collection wasn't limited by film or character, but then I NEEDED a podm lol so I started buying from overseas, then started buying more overseas, but I just couldn't search for and collect every film it was just too hard! And I also found that the hunt for some films wasn't even fun or exciting, I was just doing it for the sake of owning more. So I decided to narrow it to my fav films, and I enjoy it more now because I know what I'm looking for, and when I do find something, I REALLY like it and get excited about getting it! And it gave me a bit more money from selling them lol!

I think it's a good idea to stick to maybe a few main collections, then you know where you stand. As you know my main collection is Lion King but I also have another growing collection of stitch. I do also collect disney dreams pins (hoping to be a completist) then it's just others that I like really. I only spend my time looking for lion king and nice stitch pins. None if that probably made any sense

Yeah trying to collect everything is not the easiest thing to do. But even collecting just a bit too many themes can be hectic too.

Nope, it made sense! lol. I want to complete my Manor collection before working on the other collections a lot again.

Ah that's such a cool display! Its nice to meet others who also collect the Disney train pins. :) Those tickets are awesome...

I would seriously love to just collect Sleeping Beauty pins. I think that people with only one collection, or very few, not only save money, but also tend to have some amazing pins because all their energy is going into one collection. I find that if I have too many collections, then some take priority over others. Such as the fact that my Sleeping Beauty collection seems to have taken more priority over my Brave collection. I've recently decided to restrict myself to only buying pins that will fit into my collection, which has been a great help.

I started my collection on haunted mansion and grew to wreck it ralph frankenweenie nightmare before Xmas podh and podm pins but most of these are hard to get hold of but I buy most of these of the bay or given to me as presents I've stopped collecting nightmare before Xmas but if I see one I like then I will still add it to my collection

Between my Jules Verne collection and my memento collection, I don't have to worry about downsizing how many collections I have. However, I have deaccessioned a few pins here and there, usually because I either need the space or decided that I don't really like them. For example, I took out the pin I actually bought at the Walt Disney Studios when I went on a tour there (it has the Reluctant Dragon) and acquired the actual studio logo pin with black-and-white Mickey Mouse. My memento collection gears towards classic Mickey given the chance. I also decided that I didn't really like the pin of Tinker Bell with the Astro-Oribtor after I bought it, so that is also in my trader pile. Anya is correct that with just one collection (the memento collection doesn't count, because I buy those as souvenirs) you do save money and can invest more of your money and energy into getting just those that fit with your theme. I virtually finished my Verne collection within 6-8 months.

I downsized my Nightmare Before Christmas collection big time recently. I cut it in half. I'm still a big fan of the movie, but lately the pins haven't been very nice and there hasn't been many that I want. It felt good to put a cap on that collection. And good, you're still focusing on Haunted Mansion/Phantom Manor pins!

Thanks for all the advice and stories guys. :)

And of course I'm still collecting Mansion/Manor. :D I would cut down my collections even more but I don't want to stop collecting Big Thunder or Railroad either.

"Downsize"? What does this word mean? I have no comprehension of what you are talking about? Is this like making my pins smaller? I wouldn't do that or anything else that causes my collection to shrink, LOL! Yeah, I do get it but have no intention whatsoever of downsizing anything. My true collections are my 101 Dalmatians and the one that makes sure i never downsize and that is to collect at least one pin of every cartoon character that I can, as long as I know them. So, no I will never downsize, though I may part with the occasional thing that is not a lone example of a character.

Hmm... I just don't have the cash to collect too much, especially as I want to go to DLRP again next year. But I really want to complete my Phantom Manor collection.

I dont know how many times I have had to revamp what pins I collect lol. I even have a whole trading book dedicated to just trading for anything. just so I can have the fun of trading without worrying too much what I get lol.
