Hola guys!

I just had a quick question regarding the 1998 attraction series pins. On every PinPics description for each pin in this set, it says there are 67 total attraction pins in the set. I've counted...then recounted...the listed attraction pins posted on Pinpics, and it comes out to 66 every time! I was not in this hobby when these pins were in circulation, so perhaps I thought I'd get some help from the more seasoned pin traders who actually collected the set awhile back, or perhaps has a full set themselves. Is there an unlisted attraction pin still? Is there really 66 instead of 67? Is that last missing attraction listed but the creator of the listing did not tag it as a 1998 attraction pin? :dunno:

Thanks Erica. So it seems there is one pin in that group that did not officially have the 1998 attraction tag in its title: Pin 231: DLR - Disneyland Castle and Mickey, which is why I kept coming up with 66 instead of 67. I am having doubts that 231 counts as an attraction pin, as the set is supposed to commemorate various attractions found all over Disneyland. Pin 231 does not seem to represent any attraction...I suppose it commemorates Sleeping Beauty Castle, but Pin 188 would have the same theme as well. :dunno:

Oh, now I have to go back into the recesses of my mind. When the pins originally came out in 1998, people on the newsgroup alt.disney.disneyland started keeping a list of the SKU's and pin releases. That info made it onto a web page, now lost in the great void, and I took the info from that page to create the pin group. But #231 is most definitely part of the set, as it came with a sku that fit right in line with the rest of the pins. Here's a link to one of the posts about the set back in 1998, before the list was complete http://tinyurl.com/3ekz5ej If you google alt.disney.disneyland for 1998 attraction pin series, you will get some other posts as well.

However, like other open edition pins, Disney has released them with different backstamps. While the pin was not originally released in 2000, it was part of a group that was re-released when Disneyland jumped aboard the pin trading bandwagon and had to catch up with WDW. There are other pins from the set that also had the "released in 2000" added to their back. I haven't looked at all my set, but I know my Matterhorn pin 240 also has that text.

Alright, went through my set. These pins also had the "released in 2000" backstamp, although they had previously been released in 1998. There might be others, but if I had the 1998 version, I wouldn't have picked up the 2000 version

Also as far as I know, "Attraction Series" was a name given to the set by collectors, and not any "official" title given by Disney. Just a handy way to refer to the group of pins that all came out at the same time, and not to be taken so literally, that the pins are only attraction pins.
