For the last few days I have been getting a rather weird message, not a PM but an e-mail, from a lady whose name was somewhat familiar. She is based in France - I think.

The message included a word document showing what I understood to be possible trades. I thought she must be confusing me with someone. I did not keep her messages.

The interesting thing is that my TA has been off for a long time due to the holiday rush and vacations. Also, I have initiated and/or completed very few trades lately as I feel a bit "pinned out" for the last few months.

Today, I have received another e-mail from a different DPF member with the same document attached. She is someone I traded with twice before, both lovely trades and a great member here. She was asking me to look the trade matches over and she was ready to mail some pins to France if I approved of the said trade. Huh ???? :confused:

Totally confused, I have exchanged few e-mails with her and I came to understand that someone (another member here on DPF!!) is probably using my e-mail/reference addy on dizpins as if it is theirs. Or .... this whole thing is a big misunderstanding.

I am now worried that someone might use my references as if it is theirs and then cause problems for me.

Where do I go from here :dunno:

Pinpics and dizpins are seperate as far as I know. Pinpics has nothing to do with the references left on dizpins.

try and contact the lady in france that sent the first e-mail, if you deleted the mails check your deleted box, maybe its still in there?? I know my box keeps all the deleted messages till i empty it. try asking the second person that mailed you if they have any details for this person in france that they said they would be mailing pins to, email, name, addy anything that could help you track down the first lady weather it be on pinpics dizpins or personal email. if they do and give it to you , you can then ask them if they are the same lady that first messaged you.

Both people are members here on DPF. The trader who is trying to pass my dizpins reference address as if it is her own is also here. Probably she did not guess that this whole thing would come to my attention and/or she did not know that the e-mail addy belongs to me.

thats a little scary how someone would try and pose as another trade. If you making the member known then I would like to know who that is as well.
 
That is a crazy story. It is identity theft! I hope you manage to get it all worked out. Might be a good idea to contact the mods here at DPF. The impostor should have their account frozen if they are found guilty of doing this! Though in the meantime I'd like to know who it is. Please PM me the name. Thanks and good luck!

I sent a pm to Cicada this afternoon. I hate to blame people and point fingers without being 110% sure, so I still would like to think maybe it was a mistake and give the benefit of doubt although there is a slim chance for this one.

I am still baffled why my e-mail was involved in the trade negotiations between 2 other members.

I thought about that as well,they were using Selens as a ref to check on a trade they might of done with her
And they wanted Selen to give them good feedback to trade..I have gotten those before cause my email was on the other traders refs
But this is scary..I hope it gets straightened out fast!

I am not sure what really is going on. If they wanted to use me as a reference I think they should have asked me first maybe?

I have traded only with one of these people in the past. She, too, was very surprised to find me at the other end of the e-mail line. All this time, she was under the impression that she was communicating with the other trader abroad. She did not know that the e-mail address given to her by the said people belonged to me.

DPF's very own unsolved mystery :lol:
 
Wow, what a shocker! This is a first for that and a very scary first. What Judy says makes sense though. it is possible they were just wanting you to say they were good traders. But the trader should have asked permission to do this, if that were the case.

Like everyone else, please let me know who did this, just in case.

Selen, this is just so strange! I can see why you're worried. I have read through your explanation twice and still have trouble comprehending it! How crazy. Hope you get some explanation soon!! :(
