Hello! I know most everyone travels with their pins. How do you go about packing your pins for a long, long flight? I am flying from the East Coast to Aulani in a few weeks. Has anyone had any trouble getting their pins through security in a carry on recently? How do you keep your pins safe in your carry on? I don't have a pin trading bag, only a lanyard. Should I bubble wrap them? Is that too extreme? Sorry if these questions have been asked a million times... Thanks!

Whatever you pack them in be sure you can see through it and you won't have any problems. We went through the tsa lines last weekend and they didn't check my 4 pin bags either way. I guess they are getting used to seeing pin bags.

I would wrap each pin in bubble wrap individually. And then put them in a small makeup bag or case. I don't know about TSA though. That's what I would do especially since you are flying. It might sound excessive but better safe then sorry. Hope you have a wonderful trip to Aulani!! :D

I'm not sure about US internal flights but when I flew to Florida from the UK I had a standard Disney Pin Trading bag in both my carry on and luggage . I was asked to open the bag in my carry on both sides but no major hassle . I also got a notice that they'd opened and checked my hold luggage on the way back .
All the pins survived in an excellent condition , in some cases the backing cards were slightly bent but that may have been my poor packing . I would say any pins with rubber elements need special attention , the rubber discolours easily , but other than those everything should be fine .
Have an amazing time :D

We had our pins in a pin trading book and carried them on when we flew from Orlando in January. We didn't have any issues getting through security and I don't remember them saying anything.

Whenever going to Florida and back, I typically have to open the bags at my point-of-origin departing, but not coming back from MCO. Makes sense that they'd be more familiar with the pin bags there. But I wouldn't say it's a huge hassle either way, they just want to look in there.

When I flew with my pin bag, I had to step out of line so TSA could inspect the book and they visually checked every page. While not a hassle, per se, I felt really uncomfortable and socially awkward, like everyone at the airport was staring at me. A few months later when I flew, I only brought a lanyard and I just placed it inside a sandwich sized Ziploc bag in my carry-on and no one even blinked when I went through the security check point.

Best of luck and have a great trip! :wavey:
