Summary:
So the day after BATB (Beauty And The Beast) PoDM's were released my hubby apparently bought one in secret for me and didn't give it to me until recently...I was happy of course and then looked down at the screen and my eye twitched a little.

I have a serious issue about imperfections almost like an OCD.

I asked him where he got it and obviously I know the only place for a non trader to get them is Evilbay, and sure enough it was. Now while this isn't the sellers fault that it has an imperfection, not mentioning it is. I looked at his recent purchases and where it was from and nowhere is it listed that it had this issue, and it's not something you can over look, I noticed it the second I just glanced at the pin.

Well since it's been past 90 days I cannot return the pin and I keep hesitating to mention how much he paid...3 digits way more than he should have I'll say that lol XD

End semi-rant ;p

Point:
Ok, now onto my actual point in this thread~

I know there are people out there that don't mind imperfections and would rather have it to display in a light-box etc so here is my question, should I Auction it? Sell it? Trade it?
The other thought was donate but it's too late to donate to Goofy's fundraiser game :< otherwise this might have been an alright prize.

Scene: A little bit dusty seems to attract dust very easily :P

Imperfection:

Weird oil blotch inside the plastic. I suppose this is what keeps the cell from deteriorating?

Oil blotch ?? That might be a very thin layer of air trapped between the actual film and the protective plastic sheet covering it. Sometimes they disappear on their own. I had a Mulan pin like that, and after a while the air must have excaped and my pin looked normal.

The BatB pins are notorious for their heavy scratching on the protective cell. Often the scenes were darker and when not backlit the scene looks terribly scratched, but the cell itself is pristine. I think people need to not be so picky.

Hmm well the reason I say oil is because when I press on it lightly it spreads through the entire cell and it all looks oily lol not sure air would do that but I don't know much about how these cells work ;-; so maybe?

I still plan on getting rid of it just not sure what's the best way to approach it. People are so vicious sometimes and misunderstand the reason behind sales/auctions etc so I wanted to find out this way instead of getting nasty PMs as sadly has been the trend lately XD

I try not to be picky but sometimes I just can't help it ;__; it's like a nervous tick lol.
The only pin I've actually kept that has a lot of imperfections is DP Ariel, at least that's a little progress for my imperfection OCD !

Most likely it came from a projectionist not handling the film right or not cleaning the projector or both. My boyfriend has a Little Mermaid PODM with platter scratches. Just had another thought. I dont know if the person putting the frame into the pin even knows anything about film or was careful with it so I guess I can't just go off and blame projectionist w/o knowing that. But with what you should to do it idk it is my grail scene :)

I had a Tangled PODM with an oily thumb print smack dab in the middle of Rapunzels head. So they don't wear gloves and they don't try to clean it at all.

That is exactly how mine was. Mine was on the blackish part above the picture. I gently rubbed it towards the side of the cel and eventually it went away.

A thumb print will not come off and if you try to clean it you will scratch the film. When handling film you always should use gloves. (Film before being put in protected and put into pin) I have a BatB with thumb print too but.

That would be awesome if it was air then you could move it out. Oil on film is hard to d. I can test how oil would look on film and in tape at work tomorrow it would give me something to do. I am pretty bored hence the post.

I've also had a Cinderella with a large air bubble. The plastic protector was put in crooked and there was no fixing it without taking about the pin.

looking at my PODMs it looks like they used splicing tape which is very difficult to put on especially if doing one frame at a time. Its a shame they didnt take their time on some of the pins but the people putting them together might not have the experience or even cared. One of my co-workers spliced film horrible.

How "hard" can you press to not do any damage to release an air bubble. I have a Peter Pan PODM with a small air bubble because a small hair of dust is pushing the cel up. But it is on the very very edge. Should I squeeze it out or leave as is? Thanks!

jkhogon - Idk its up to you but if you do try to push it out I wouldn't use your fingernail.

Sorry it took me a few days been busy, stressed and sad lately but I did do the test. I am not sure if it is oil or just an air bubble. I would have to see the pin to really know. When I put oil on the frame and tapped it I could see the oil but when I pushed it out it went over the whole frame and I could no longer see it, it didn't move around. But that was just with splicing tape and they might have used something different to cover the frame that could allow more room for oil or liquid to move around.

I just solved the problem! Hurray! Sadly it's not a permanent fix but it does remove it when it occurs depending on temperature.

So this morning when I woke up (left my blinds open so the sun was shining in, I NEVER do that lol) and I noticed I had left the PODM out on the desk where the sun was shining DIRECTLY on it and I picked it up thinking "oh no how long has it been like this ? !" and then saw the oily/bubble was COMPLETELY gone! So I closed the blinds and closed my door and left the house (doing those two things makes my room get really cold) and when I got back later that day it was back ! So to do a final test I turned on the light that gets really hot and put it under *not too close* and let it warm up just a little and it disappeared before my eyes~!

So apparently that evil little blotch/bubble, w/e it may be, goes way in warm temperatures (my guess is when the plastic is warm) and re-appears in the cold temps 0.o.

Either way, I'm still deciding what to do with it since I want to focus on my wants mainly but more than likely it will be Auctioned :D Especially since I won't feel too bad that it can be resolved as long as your room doesn't get as cold as mine! LOL

*runs in circles*

What I think is amazing is that your husband gave you a gift that he thought you'd like. It should be worth something to you even if it has any imperfection, right?:hsd:

Yea ;-;! That's also why I didn't rush to get rid of it, it was definitely the thought that counted tho :D
