Many of you have been following the health/life upheaval journey that I've been on over the last four years, and I'm happy to say that I have SEVERAL pieces of very good news!

Quick background:
In 2017 my husband and I had to cancel our plans to travel the world when I came down with mysterious health symptoms. We moved in with my parents, and I spent the whole year getting tests done. That September, my husband had an accident that resulted in a traumatic brain injury and he lost his job. At the beginning of 2018 I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia with "unexplained symptoms" (they never really figured out what was going on), and I got a part-time job at a local high school to try and cover some of our bills. We got stuck in California, and were in limbo for a couple years while my husband's brain healed. Between his 5 day ICU stay and all of my tests, we ended up with a ton of medical debt from 2017, and had to borrow heavily just to pay monthly bills.

Good news!
In January 2020, after two and a half years of being unemployed, my husband got a great job! His brain had finally healed, and he found a job as a full stack developer (his specialty) at a fantastic company that is paying him a competitive salary. He got the job right before Covid hit, so we were (finally) financially secure when the bottom dropped out of everyone's world last year, and it was already a remote position so he was already working from home. This was particularly a blessing since I had to go on leave from my job in November (my autoimmune issues made it too dangerous to continue working at the high school during Covid). My health has been stable, and I've been going to physical therapy for the last two years to help strengthen my muscles which helps to alleviate my pain. My inflammation markers have even been improving!

EVEN BETTER NEWS!
I'M PREGNANT! After needing to wait to have kids for many years because of debt and health issues, we were finally able to start trying in the fall. As of posting this I am 20 weeks pregnant with our first little one, a baby boy, and am due September 29th! We have always wanted to be parents, and after being married for 9 years it is just the biggest blessing. It's been a little nerve-wracking knowing that I will be turning 34 two weeks before my delivery (I always thought I would be done having kids by this age!), and my chronic pain and fatigue adds an extra bit of anxiety when it comes to childbirth and raising kids. Luckily my pain hasn't been too bad during pregnancy, though my fatigue has been unreal. But I'm making it through, and I'm halfway there! We're planning on staying in SoCal for at least another year or two to stay near my parents for help with the baby, and then hopefully we will be settling down in Northern Oregon like we've always planned to.

Thank you all for sharing my journey; thank you to everyone who asks for updates when I see them at trading events, the support I've received from this community has meant a lot to me. I've missed seeing your faces this past year! It has been a crazy four years, but it feels like I'm finally seeing the other side of the most difficult time of my life. And now we have this wonderful, life-changing little boy on the way! It's the start of a new chapter for our family, and I am really excited to see what it holds :)

Woohoo!! That is so so so wonderful to hear there is so much good news! I always try to remind myself (and tell others) that when things seem dark, the light is just around the corner. Glad to see so much brightness shining in your life. Even though we haven't known each other for a while, though have done a few trades, this makes me so happy for you and I wish you and your family the absolute best. Looking forward to more updates : )

Thank you, prayers are very welcome! The company he works for has been incredible- it's the healthiest work environment he's ever encountered, and they have a good support system in place for the mental health of their employees. This job was truly an answer to prayer for us!

Thank you so much! I knew it wasn't going to last forever, but that was definitely hard to focus on in the darkest times of 2017, especially right after his accident. Even though there were unexpected benefits to what we went through (our relationship is stronger and our communication is better than it's ever been), it's not an experience I would wish on anyone and I feel relieved to be done with that season. It really makes me appreciate the blessings we've been given since then!
