Hi everyone,

I'm currently on vacation in WDW and we are on our 7th night of 14. We're currently staying in POP Century and having a great time however, the pins have been a real let down so far. After travelling from the UK we thought the stores would be full of different pins and even some Limited Edition pins hiding amoungst the rack ones with some suprises popping up here and there.

Sadly, all we have seen is the same rack pins in every store with very little new additions, which brings me to my post.


I really thought that in Magic Kingdom (as an example) next to Alice's teacup ride there would be a gift shop with tons of Alice stuff and then of course a few Alice pins, and after the amazing experience of the Haunted Mansion there would be a spooky shop with Haunted Mansion t-shirts and a few Haunted Mansion pis (juding by some of the amazing ones i've already got I thought there'd be tons, even rack pins).

Am I missing something or is magic kingdom generally only stocking the 50 or so basic ones like at the Emporium and like the Trading Post in Frontierland?


Also I see pins with the TRADE CITY backing card, but havent found any of them either Limited Edition or Rack ones.


Please can you let me know if we have just misseds them as our vacation has been a really dissapointing pin haul so far. Im reluctant to buy any of the expensive rack pins when you can get the same basic open edition ones on ebay.

As for Limited Edition the only ones we found were the Holiday Mailbox ones and some of the FREE-D thanksgiving ones with the corn and turkey on it, is this literally all there is?

I've never been to WDW but at Disneyland, they have a store that's pin only and they have LE and some rarer pins locked in their glass counter where you purchase them from. Also, like crushedbubbles, Downtown Disney usually has a few stores that have a variety of pins.
 
I was JUST at WDW and I was searching for some VERY specific pins for a member here and I had the darndest time finding one pin in particular. Luckily I printed the pin pics for it so I could show the cast members....but here is what happened...

At downtown disney at pin traders I shower the picture and asked...
'Oh, it must be sold out if we don't have it here...."

The next day at magic kingdom I went to the Emporium...
"I have never seen that pin before...." (<---same pin that was "sold out at DTD the night before)
I went to the new Fantasyland Preview and it was an Ariel pin I was searching for, so I thought maybe it was around Ariels Grotto...I went to the gift shop in the Beauty and the Beast section of the preview area and they said that it was just at the gift shop right next to Mickey's Philharmagic. So I went there....they didnt have it. They suggested I try Sir Mickey's.

FINALLY I walk into Sir Mickey's, showed the picture to a cast member and the pin I was searching for wasn't even WITH PINS. It was with a bunch of other merchandise...just sitting there minding it's own business.

So I suggest you just look everywhere. Even where you think there arn't supposed to be pins in an area of a shop...still look.

I would definitely check in Epcot at the pin traders location right in front of the big fountain. I did the best there getting LE pins (even better than DTD)

I had the same thing happen to us on our last trip, I was looking for the jumbo vinylmation pins and everywhere I asked, people looked at me like I was nuts and that no such thing existed. I finally found some at Epcot.

BE SURE you find Scoop at Magic Kingdom on Main Street. He always has the best pins to trade and can talk pins for hours!
 
You've actually stated a major problem WDW is having under current management. In an effort to "save money" Disney has homogenized it's merchandise. Gone are the days where you can find specialty items in specific locations. With few exceptions, you see one store, you've seen them all.
 
I dont know about that DLR shops are all different yes some have the same items but all there own for the location in the park.. i go 4 times a week and there not always the same

Where are the PoDM pins sold at WDW? I know Pin Traders at DTD. Where in each park pls: the usual places in all 4 parks? Thanks
 
Hi Everyone,

Thank you for the responses, we are off to Epcot today so I will have a look there and then we will hit Animal Kingdom tomorrow.

We tried DTD and after getting bashed left, right and center by both kids and adults alike, we found the glass cabinet with literally 2 LE in it and a bunch of PASSHOLDER pins so I guess that was the extent of their stock.

I think I'll just put all my eggs in one basket and hope for success when the Beauty and the beast movie pin comes out next week :P

You will have to visit downtown disney. Some pins that are released will not be sold in WDW or epcot pin station but they are in downtown disney. The 13 days of countdown queen of hearts comes out today, along with other LEs of christmas resort pins of stitch, ariel, and chip and dale. Good luck!!!
 
If you are still here next thursday, there are a few other nice pins coming out such as Beauty and the Beast PODM, alice and wonderland snowman (chip and dale, lady and the tramp, and minnie and mickey too). I usually check DTD first before any other pin stations for new releases!!!
 
another good place to check is the store in the contemporary resort, they sometimes have older LE pins in their cabinet. But to be honest when I was a WDW at the end of the summer I was very disappointed by the total lack of LE pins everywhere even all the usual spots (DTD, the pin station at Epcot), they just dont seem to be releasing as many LE pins as they used too!
