I don't like posting crabby "complaint" posts. Really, I don't. But this annoys the *bleep* out of me, and I need to vent here, since I don't have the means to contact the person(s) responsible.

One of my pin collections--and I'm a completist on this one--is Hanukkah pins. Disney went from issuing different Hanukkah pins from DL, DCA, WDW and Auctions (from about the year 2000) and whittling it down to ONE design each year to be sold at DLR and WDW, and one pin from Disney Shopping. Okay, I can live with it, although the park pins are usually just tired variations of the same Mickey & Minnie/dreidel/Hanukiah (menorah) pin, and Disney Shopping still creative with different designs, if occasionally showing inaccuracies, different characters (Tink, Chip 'n' Dale).

This year, the parks pin is, you guessed it, the same old tired variation of the Mickey & Minnie pin, but okay, I got it. I look on Disney Shopping--not only the same tired design (no different design or different characters), it's LAST YEAR'S PARKS PIN. The EXACT SAME ONE.

WTF????

Really, Disney? You release ONE Hanukkah pin (amongst the 10 bazillion Xmas ones, every single year, for parks and shopping, not to mention the ones from the international parks), and you can't make ONE ORIGINAL DESIGN? And yes, there aren't tons of people buying Hanukkah pins, but we're still a group...some of them don't even observe the holiday.

I'm disgusted.

This year has been bad for good designs from disneystore. They have only made 4? Xmas pins so far this year and it looks like that may be it. But yes, it is stupid they are not taking more care of pins for all of us.

the pin on disneystore.com is a parks pin so not a DS exclusive it might just be overstock from last year and they are going to release a new pin later in the month

I can understand your frustration. At first it seemed a little silly to me when I noticed people getting so excited about characters being shown in new poses but I'm understanding the excitement now. New designs really do seem to be rare. Admittedly, though, it is a cute Hannukah pin but it really isn't fair that they didn't even try to design a new one for this year, opting instead to use last year's. If they only make one Hannukah pin compared to all the Christmas pins, though there seem to be a sorry amount of those this year, I wouldn't think making a small effort to create something new would take that much.

Today really seems a bad day for Disney, I keep reading complaints everywhere online.

We are all suffering from the lack of good quality pins with low LE count and nice designs this year. But, look at it as the glass is half full: We get to keep $$ in our wallets for Holidays :) Or spend it on Ebay chasing after older pins

I wrote a letter to the Board of Directors for Disney and hopefully someone will read it. I spoke to that issue as well as other issues with the Disney brand. It's sad to see such a fine name like Disney being publicly bashed and I'm sure Walt is turning over in his grave.

Im in the same boat as you as an UP collector we have had only 2 releases since this time last year and same goes for st patricks day stitch pins just 2 pins which is just ashame as Im hoping next year there will be more to add to those themes. And with the Japan releasing stitch as pins means Ive been able to add invasion pins to my collection or else that theme wouldnt have expanded either :(

It can always get worse. It seems most of the Christmas pins now only say "Happy Holidays" on them. At least the Hanukkah pins still say "Happy Hanukkah".

LOL, some of them through the years didn't say anything (no holiday, no year) and some menorahs were drawn incorrectly (not enough candle holders, placement wrong, etc.). Maybe this sounds odd, but when they do create a new design, maybe they should hire an artist who's actually Jewish (completely familiar with the holiday), y'know?

Maybe I'm weird, I kind of prefer the holiday themed pins to be wordless. I like the simple designs, like the wreath or the tree covered in the little red Mickey head ornaments. Granted, I'd change my mind in a flash if Disney ever came out with international holiday themed pins, like a German one that actually says 'Froliche (or Frohe) Weihnachten' on it.

I know how you feel. I was so excited when I saw a Chanukah pin at DLR that I bought it before I realized it was last years pin. I figured it looked familiar because of how many Mickey and/or Minnie with a spinning dreidel pins there are. I'm spending my money buying older pins instead. Nothing much current strikes my fancy.

Miriam, just so you know, there is a Hanukkah pin for this year at the parks: http://pinpics.com/cgi-bin/pin.cgi?pin=87248&sid=6831.1323309259. The shamus (sp?) has a jeweled flame. It's nice...same old Mickey/Minnie.

I see your wants pictured at the bottom. This is one of those times I'm really started this hobby a long time ago...I have the Passover pin and the Evreet (sp?) pin; did you know there's also a Rosh Hashanah pin? You can imagine my reaction when Disney released the Passover and R.H. pins: *THUD* But they're really cute.

Oh yes, I drove down on Thanksgiving to pick up the new release for myself and Robyn/eeyorespal. LOL I was so worried it'd sell out but I didn't have to worry. Oh well. It was fun anyhow.

Whenever I fill out one of those surveys I mention wanting more kosher food options and Jewish holiday stuff. I doubt it does anything but you never know.
