WDI - No more Golden Tickets After the event in August

I am not a D23 member and know nothing about these golden tickets, but why can't D23 members(I'm assuming the golden ticket thing is a D23-related thing, correct me or ignore me if I'm wrong!) get an i.d card or have a RSP type thing where they have to sign in with their I.D when they go to the event, instead of just having a ticket?

I understand both hopemax and markheardjr side of the thread which makes me have mixed feelings about this. Maybe MoG is just stopping for a short time until they do have a system in place to prevent fakes or reselling if they decide to let the public visit again.

The golden ticket is not D23 related - it was a special ticket that was given out mainly in grab bags. They just sometimes would also invite D23 members.

They also gave them away as raffle prizes at the D23 events. And the grab bags were sold at D23 events. The golden tickets could go to anyone in attendance which meant D23, their guests, CM's, and their guests.

Personally, I don't really see why the general public should be able to shop at MoG anyway. For example, the Cars Sorcerer Hat set sold out when they were selling them at their event before Disney employees even had a chance to purchase them. It's kind of backwards to have merchandise labelled as "Imagineer Exclusive" that was sold to anybody at the event first....

They were given out at non D23 events as well - so I was saying they are not tied in with D23 - so the previous comment about making a permnent card would not work.

So make it D23 only and make them show D23 ID and gov't issue ID both, when they get it and when they use it. Kids can bring an adult. Or do a random online raffle using D23 member numbers and the member must show D23 ID card and ID, or kids bring adults.
