Im still new at this but can anyone tell me more about WDI pins? It's my understanding that they come only from the CM store at Mickeys of Glendale. Is that correct? If so is it so the CM's have a special place to shop? Do they not know that these are going to end up on a secondary market? I'm just confounded by this designation of merch. Any thoughts?
 
In all fairness though, some people do in fact use them as traders when they purchase WDI pins. I once heard they have these to help motivate CMs to want to pin trade themselves.
 
WDI pins are for sale at Mickey's of Glendale (MoG) and they are usually very limited. Normal folks can get in 3 ways (most common.) Join D23 and go when they go, get a golden ticket via a giveaway (Usually D23 events,) or get a CM to bring you during certain hours.

I think CM exclusives are for sale at Company D too, that aren't necessarily WDI.
 
Disney knows that WDI pins will get traded out to non-cast members. Trading and collecting is the goal. WDI pins provide another "special" classification, much like a Soda Fountain pin, or pins sold only at hotel stores.
 
Actually, most people who resell WDI pins sell them fairly reasonably...there's always exceptions, buttypically I've been able to pick up a lot of them for just a couple of dollars more than they cost.
 
I think with most companys they just think as long as they sell what they are offering, then people can do what they want with them. they have made there money from it, so after that its fair game
 
A great place to find WDI/cast member pins is at the Disneyana convention held in Garden Grove, just a few blocks down Harbor Bl twice a year. It's held usually in Jan. & July around DLR's anniversary date. Mickey's of Glendale is always there. I've picked up some GREAT mansion items there!

You've been fortunate , it seems everytime I try to buy WDI pins they are nearly double srp. I'm still hoping the new muppet pins drop in price a little lol.

FYI - The next D23 Saturday at Mickeys of Glendale is June 23. The Disneyana Fan Club Sunday Sale is July 22 at the Crowne Plaza Resort in Garden Grove, corner of Harbor Blvd and Chapman.

sparten777 - In the time that it takes you to go to Fresno or Pismo, you could go to Glendale or Anaheim. :) I know, I live in Bako, too.
