Hello all,

Doing a WDW and DCL trip in Feb. Big problem is I have run out of trade pins. Not only for other people (pretty rare in all reality) but with the staff (big time trading there). Now it doesn't make sense to buy a bunch at full price to trade with staff when you never know what will be out there. Is there a place to score a bunch of pins (a grab bag) for a decent price? Not looking for anything particular (though I'll probably find one or two with as new as I am ) just about 20 or so to have on hand for swapping.

Try DPF sales forum, you do not have enough posts to post what you need...but you can always PM a seller for something that catches your eye

I hate to break it to you but most people buy those large grab bags of multiples of 25 at ebay for a cheap price. They use those to trade with other cast members around the park, and sometimes with other traders. Though with other traders, you won't get very far. Most of the grab bag pins at ebay are fake, but disney still allows trading after all if it sparks interests to people, it will bring them profit in the end. My best bet to you is if you want nicer pins to trade with other pin traders, you can buy some decent pins from wanted ads on this forum. If you just want to trade with cast members, ebay bags are okay. I stopped trading with cast members as most of the stuff in their lanyards are counterfeit. Hope this helps.

Just to clairfy, buying known fakes/scrappers for the intent of trading them to CMs at the parks is commiting a crime, fraud.

If you are looking for less expensive, AUTHENTIC, traders for the parks, try the Disney outlet stores near the parks. Character Warehouse and Character Premiere. Don't buy bags of cheap crap off of ebay.

I know someone who is selling grab bags for a very reasonable price. I can give you their details if you want to PM me. They never, ever put scrappers or other non-tradable pins in their grab bags.
Please be careful of eBay as although many people are genuine, many are not. Sometimes the grab bags found on there are unauthorised pins all the way through & its not fair to offer them to Cast Members (or anyone else for that matter).

Thanks all. Got a some on their way. About 30.

I was worried about counterfeits on Ebay, which is why I asked here hoping that someone would carry such. Though it is a bit disappointing that most CM are counterfeit. Since I am just a newb at this and while enjoy it, it is far from all encompassing for me. Just something that adds to the Disney fun. Now to think that the stuff out there is garbage is a bummer. I guess I will go from trading to just buying since I doubt I will have the level of pins that would tempt even the smallest collector here.

Not everything on the CM lanyard is counterfeit/fake/scrappers. You just have to start having a discerning eye and look at the pins closely before trading.

If you're in the dark and don't know about Ebay counterfeits, that's one thing. If you know that the pins are counterfeit and you're intentionally buying them to trade, that's just not ethical.

I agree that buying those counterfeit ebay bags are illegal and is a crime, but we all know that everyone does it. Most CMs and the managers know it, but they don't say anything. And I am sure Disney knows this is a major problem but will not lay down any rules against it. Like I said, I stopped trading with cast members for this main reason. Most of my pin traders I buy or I trade in events or in this forum. I can't begin to tell you how many guests would approach me with those ebay bags hoping to trade with me (I usually carry a trading bag with me). And they get really disappointed or sometimes shocked when I politely say that I am not interested. As a trader, it pays to know your scrappers and counterfeits and to educate the public about them..

No, not everyone!! I have never purchased bulk pins from Ebay, can't even remember when I last purchased 1 pin from ebay. Some of us have standards and the 'everyone does it' doesn't cut it with me. Not everyone does this, because others do, doesn't make it OK.

If I get fakes/scrappers in collections I purchase, they go in the trash, or I donate them to someone who gives them as prizes to their students. I see locals/regulars at WDW trading fakes to the CM's lanyards all the time, they get the stink eye from me. It doesn't make it OK that they do this. They are cheating the system and breaking the law.

It's still a crime.

Got my new pins in and there were about 4 that are moving into my collection though probably not the ones she thought The four circled and I am debating on the yin/yang Mickey -

Mylittleguy did right by me. Not only did I get quite a bit for trade with CM (and will look over very closely from now on) she put several in there that she thought I might want to keep. My luck was that most were duplicates but still had several I will add and the extras will see a purpose. At the price I couldn't be happier.
