What does 'El Capitan' mean?

If Aladdin gets re-screened there (it was released in 1992 when there was no El Capitan) - so probably a 3D version - there may be a marquee at that time.

You know what I was just going to post something about this because this year is Aladdin's 20 Year Anniversary!!!

Fingers & toes crossed.

Do they normally release pins for 20th anniversaries? I know they did for Ariel. And for Aladdin they did LE 100 pins for the 10th Anniversary.

Well, the next movie they're going to rescreen (in it's 3D version) is TLM in Sepember 2013. So, I'll probably go and watch that. Doubt I'll be able to get a marquee though. LOL

They have already released a marquee (two I think) of the Little Mermaid, would they release another? And really? That far in advance?

All of the other Marquees that have been released - have the films all been shown at the theatre to go with the pin release?

Thanks for the info! Going to read it now :)

Do you know how reguarly they release these Marquee pins and where would one find out what they release next?

Hoping that they will release an Aladdin one :)

The DSF Marquee pins match the movies that are playing at the El Capitan Theatre. Sometimes the theatre has special engagements that support video releases (like Cindereall and Tinkerbell) instead of new movies.

so we have:

Cinderella (Aug 15, 2012)
Tinkerbell: Secret of the Wings (Aug 31, 2012)
Nemo in 3D (Sept 14, 2012)
Frankenweenie (Oct 5, 2012)
Nightmare Before Christmas (Oct 26, 2012)
Wreck It Ralph (Nov 2, 2012)
Monsters Inc in 3D (Dec 19, 2012)

Upcoming releases which will probably play at the El Capitan

Oz, the Great and Powerful (Mar 8, 2013)
Iron Man 3 (May 3 2013)
Monsters University (Jun 21, 2013)
The Little Mermaid in 3D (Sept 13, 2013)

Not sure; there have been 3 Beauty & the Beast marquees. The 2nd, I think came out when they re-released it for it's 20th anniversary (with some extra footage at the beginning - a sing a long). The 3rd came out when they re-released it in the 3D version. Not sure when the first version came out.

But, the Cinderella is coming out because it's being released on DVD (and I think they will show it at El Capitan for 2 weeks before it's release. Same with Tinker Bell.

Oh I see, thanks for the info, Steve. So when it is announced that in a few years time a Disney Movie will be played at the Theatre, they release the pin then? (I notice that the films coming up have already had their matching pins be released).

The Cinderella Special Engegement at the El Capitan supports the BluRay release October 2nd and DVD re-release Nov 20th - most of the time the theatre choses family friendly movies and if there isn't a first run Disney movie available, they will go into the Disney Vault. The Avengers movie was the 1st one that was not a "G" rated film and did very well, prompting them to consider other new releases that might be more fo the "older crowd"...time will tell...

For the past few years (that I have been going to the pin releases), the Marquee pin has been released on the 1st day that the theatre shows the film. Most of them are on Fridays, but a few (like Cinderella - film starts on a Wednesday as is the release of the Marquee and Cinderella pins) are on other days.

New Marquee pins are released for the new showing (which explains the multiple The Little Mermaid, Nightmare Before Christmas and Beauty and the Beast Marquee pins)

So does this mean that there will be a Cinderella Marquee (a new one for Aug 15 - 3 days time?)
And the same for Tinker Bell at the end of the month?

ARE YOU KIDDING???? I just wet myself... My favorite movie NBC is there the day before my birthday... But I am ALWAYS out of town for my birthday... OH NO... What am I going to do now...??? Um... Yeah right... Change my clothes and go wait in line... WOW... Are you sure??

Ahh I see, I shall take a look. Thanks for the info. So has Cinderella been released at the Theatre more than once?

Not as far as I know. If you go to pinpics and look up marquee under DSF you'll see how many there are. Remember, El Capitan has only been around since 2005-ish (I think). And I don't recall there being any special DVD releases for Cinderella (other than the upcoming one).

The first Cinderella Marquee pin was released September 15, 2005 but the film will be released in the Theatre this August of 2012. I thought TheOtherSteve had mentioned that the pins were released on the day of the film's release at the Theatre?

And the same with TLM - pins were already released Sept 7,2006 but will be in the Theatre this September, 2012.
