Also, some OE pins get restocked for years. Some had their initial order, and that's it.
 
I agree overall popularity plays a big role. I think if a pin truly captures a moment with the characters then it becomes more sought after. Like with this pin of Bambi and Thumper. What a sweet moment between these two best friends! Even the "Best Friends" mystery pack pin of them sliding on the ice doesn't quite capture the feeling of friendship that I see looking at your pin.
 
Not sure on OE reasoning, but that Bambi and Thumper pin is great. Is it still available at the parks?
 
No and I have had requests for this pin for some very expensive low edition pins and I decided to hold on to it and ask this question.
i know a few are very popular. The first edition vote Mickey for President. A Hidden Mickey License plate U Can Fly and another OE off the top of my head, I can't remember.
All very sought after with a value attached?
