Hey all!

Sometimes marquees are grossly overpriced so it's hard to tell what a pin is really worth.

I just won the Alice in wonderland marquee for 46 dollars on eBay and I'm wondering if I got a good deal. I am not sure how much this pin is really worth considering there's a listing for 345 and then two others in the 90 dollar range.

Overall I'm just glad I have the pin in my possession! I am a marquee collector and thought I'd never be able to afford this pin. But I'm just interested in how much money I saved so I'd like some opinions. Who doesn't like a good deal, right?

Most people will not value a pin based on asking price. Check the last three or four recently sold and take the average. If there are less sold than that, then two or one will suffice to give you an idea. That will be the going price.

Agreed, I guess what I really meant was how much does this pin really go for. I just get excited when I find a pin that I usually can't afford for a good price.

You bought it at auction for $46. I'm guessing it's true market rate at the moment is $46. If it were more someone would have bid more. If you win a pin at auction that's the price all of that pin are valued at. If for some reason people just didn't watch it, or it was listed wrong, you may have got a good deal. But probably that is the actual price people are willing to pay and all those BIN's that are $90+ are just unrealistic sellers. The only time you can get a really good deal on eBay is if you watch BIN and newly listed and see if someone underprices a pin because they don't know what they have or just want to get rid of it. But if a pin goes stupid low, like say a Pip PTD for like $20 BIN, you know the person had no clue what they had. In those cases, the real value kind of skips that anomoly and stays true to last sold at auction price, or last sold BIN price that was closer to previous values.

At this point in time, I would have to agree with Mark. $46 is today's going rate, as the market may have cooled somewhat from six months ago. At the very least, you paid a very good price as compared to the other listings you stated you have recently seen. Congrats!
