Anyone have any thoughts on how this might affect the value of a pin? Particularly a higher end Disney Auction type pin that is in mint condition on the front, can still be used with one working post, but one of the two posts has broken off. The broken post is not lost and could be repaired, but having never done that.. I don't want to make a sad situation worse.

I'd say it really depends on the pin. If it is one that rarely comes available and is almost impossible to find, it shouldn't hurt it much. If it is one that does come available on a regular basis but is just expensive, then yeah, it might be hurt a little bit because holding out for a perfect one is easier when they are available more often.

What if the pin post doesn't come off at the base but snaps in the middle? I've seen that a couple of times, thankfully on cheap pins.
