O-H!
Oh forum members in your infinite wisdom what should I do?

So I recently traded my DMR 60th Castle pin (Pin 109982) on pin pics. The user sent me a request that I thought was to good to be true, the WDI Triton and Ariel Fathers day LE250 (Pin 90244). Then sent me another pin that looks very similar to it 2015 King Triton and Ariel Fathers Day LE 2000 (Pin 109457)

vs.

I don't want to accuse the person of anything, the have been very nice so far and said this was their first trade through pin pics after many failed attempts. I likely still would have accepted the trade if they had offered the pin they sent, but I am a little disappointed. The trader had also offered to send pictures of the pin because they had traded for it in the parks. I of course had to say they didn't need to do this at the time.

So what's the best course of action? I'm planning on asking them about the pin but I'm really not sure if I should be overly polite or a little aggressive?

Thanks in advance for your advice!

I am guessing they thought their pin was the one they offered and they didn't realize that it was the one they sent.

But I would send them an email to clarify everything.

Yes, this. I would also say that they thought that was the pin they were sending. I would definitely email them to let them know of the error and be clear about what you want to happen.

I had something similar happen once. I just sent the trader a polite email that basically thanked them for the trade and said that the pin I received was not what I expected and pointed out the pin I thought I was getting. The trader was super nice and sent the right pin. It was a smaller trade so they told me to keep both pins.

I would say something. It was probably/hopefully an honest mistake.

Everyone has given great advice, and I agree that you need to e-mail the other trader. I had the wrong pin sent to me once. The sender sent me a pin meant for someone else. I e-mailed the trader and they asked if I would be okay sending the pin to the correct recipient. I ended up sending the pin to the other trader who it was intended for and the other trader sent me my pin in return.

Mistakes can happen. We always try to emphasize the importance of communication and clarity when trading through PinPics*.

Simple, polite emails/conversation can go a long way

It's always a good idea to get the PinPics number for all the pins involved in the trade and to ask the trader if they are familiar with PinPics. Especially if they are new to trading (and PinPics), it's worth the time to ask a few more questions and even send photos. Sometimes people think they have the right pin but if they check the back stamp information, they can see it is different than what PinPics says for the corresponding pin number. I would contact the trader and explain that the pin you were expecting (PinPics #__) although similar to the one they sent you is not they pin they sent you. I hope all works out well for both of you!! :x:

Communication is the key. Mistakes can happen even to us old time traders. Just let them know of their mistake and ask them if they have the correct pin. If not you have a decision to make. Do you want to reverse the trade or let it stand.

You need to demand the correct pin be sent to you!! Tell them your also keeping the other pin that they sent you for your trouble!! Tell them they need to send you some extra pins also to cover for your anguish due to this horrifying experience. :naughty::naughty::lol::lol::lol:

JK.....everyone else gave very good advise. Good luck!!

Thank you so much for your advice everyone! (Especially yours Tbird )

I tried to add lots of smilies to the message in hopes that it wouldn't sound cross. Hopefully I hear back from them soon.

I heard back from the trader and he apologized, he cataloged the pin down wrong on pin pics after doing a lot of trading. He said he wanted to send the castle pin back and wants me to keep the Ariel pin.

Hopefully he hasn't already sent it, because I feel awful about keeping the pin. I think I'll just send the Ariel back and ask for a different trader.
