Call me crazy, but yes I do at times trade for chimichanga, cold beverage or even LUNCH.

There are some advantages to it. One, you don't have to wait in line, THEY DO. You don't have to spend YOUR money and best of all you don't have to stop trading.

So, have any other traders out there traded a pin away to get something to eat or drink? Let's hear some feedback on this one with some juicy stories.

I know someone who has traded pins for a turkey leg, a chimichunga a churro and a hamberger with fries and a soda! not all in the same day though! I have traded a disney hat for a pin i wanted before though and i have traded pins for help at home before lol!

Thats how I got started. A friend of mine used to be a CM. Had a bunch of pins, and found out I was interested in starting pin trading. She gave me around 20 pins for making her a fairy house.

Yup, I make fairy houses, out of moss, floral foam, silk flowers, rocks, coffee grounds... you name, I use it. Really pretty. Its an outlet for my creative wackiness.

I have been known to in the past while waiting for a trade night to start trade for an adult beverage of some kind...

LoL see that's what I'm talking about. I wish we could experience these things but we live to far to go down just for a pin release. LoL I bet it's cool waiting in line and trading with people there. LoL so do people bring BBQ grills too?? Lol tailgate

When we went in May the guy next to me traded two pins for a corn dog and a soda. Now I am wondering if he read this and thought he should try it. He was really proud of himself and told everyone about it the rest of the day.

I've traded for other Disney merchandise before (Duffys, especially). But I don't think I've traded for food yet...

You should share some pictures!

Brilliant idea!

While I haven't traded for food, I have traded for other merchandise like 2 Mary Poppins umbrellas and an Alice tote.

On my last visit ... I traded two pins for a chimichanga and a water... First time doing it but if the opportunity presents it self again I'd do it in a heart beat...

WOW to say I am shocked would be an drastic understatement. This is all way too funny HA HA HA. Thank you so much Applecore for creating this thread, because without it the thought of trading a pin for food would have never even entered my mind. I feel like I have just been introduced to a whole new brand of pin trading and it's amazing how rare yet common this all seems to be. I guess whatever works though right.

Oh quick question - I am curious to know what kind of pin a chimichanga or adult beverage can fetch? What would be fair? Does it all just reflect upon how starved or desprite an individual may be?

Also, I so wish I could open a stand or restaurant at Disney where all the prices on the menu where based in pin currency. I think that would be great. I can already imagine the problems the pin sharks would cause though.

This information could be invaluable at the Sept event...LOL..If I am in line and hungry, I will keep some pins handy for trading, since last event I didn't eat anything besides yummy caramel popcorn all day (for energy). If I am tired of standing in pinboard lines and want to make a food run, I may be looking to trade some food for pins...there are so many possiblities that I have never thought of...

LOL, should I tell my sister to pack up her rolling cooler with yummy treats to trade for pins at the Sept Event?

Oooh some really good ideas! I'm heading to DLR tomorrow and will have to remember this ... ... ... um sure I'll trade with you ... oh you want that pin ... um ok but I want a soda and a rice krispie treat ... ok? Ok, it's a trade ... rofl!!! Or maybe I should hold out for chocolate? Naw, my favorite treat in the park is the Winnie the Pooh "Pooh Hunny Pot" rice crispie treat and you can only get it in Pooh's Corner. Pin Traders Unite! ... dateline Disneyland ... pins now accepted as legal tender ... hahahahaha!! Love it!

This whole thing about 'Pin for Food' started with another regular trader that blew my mind when he traded for a churro at LGM on day. I figured what the heck, try it out. So I did, and it was a magical experience. One sunny afternoon, a guest asked me what I would like and I said a big orange soda. When she returned, she was carrying TWO. So of course, I gave one to another trader.

But back to the other trader which got me started...

One afternoon, he and I decided to have our own little contest. At one point, a couple went two directions to get a soda and a chimichanga. They came back with both at the same time. Meanwhile, my nemesis had scored a turkey leg and soda.

And yes, when using the force in trading for food, the Dark Side DOES have cookies.

Depending on how many adult beverages have already been consumed the pins have been some pretty good ones.

I'm always open to negotiations.
