So, I got a bunch of Wonderland Vinylmation booster packs from WDW today...YEAH! Well, I was opening all of them up, and in one of my booster sets, I got the pin from Vinylmation Park #1 (this one [pinpics]63510[/pinpics]). The pink on the pin is a little more dull, the back is silver (original is gold), but it has 2008 on the back. Has this happened to anyone? I'm not really sure what to do or think. I can't help but laugh a bit too. :)

I had this happen to me with 5 packs of the Toy Story vinylmation set I bought at WDW (kiosk at the gates of Hollywood Studios) about a year ago. All 5 chaser pins were replaced by very obvious counterfeits (thick borders and everything). Unfortunately, I finally opened them when I got back to Nashville so I couldn't return them!

I did still have my receipt so I called the 800 number and let them know about it. After talking to a manager, they asked me to send all five back to them with the bad chasers and the receipt and they mailed me brand new sets with good chasers.

When I looked at the black plastic pouches that the "chasers" were in, I couldn't really see where it had been opened. Unfortunately, the larger pack was the kind where you could open them and reseal them, so that hardly helps to deter thieves!

The manager told me that she had never heard of this happening, and until now I had not heard of anyone else having the same issue. Sorry to hear about this.

Well, I'm...glad? that this has happened to someone else. I'll have to see what I can do. I don't think it was opened, and the bag didn't look tampered with in any way. Well, I only need two more of the chasers, so we'll see if I can get those last two. :)

This is very odd. I personally hope it was tamped with by someone and not just the factory not packing the right pins either on accident or purpose. Blind packaging, as much as I love it, always leaves the quality control and other issues upto the factory. Disney can not verify its the right item or check the quality. It usually is discovered by the guests and a lot of times, its opened later and a story that is impossible for the guest to prove is accurate. I know I have gotten some blind bag pins that I would never have bought if I saw the quality and condition they were in. I would have assumed they were counterfeits if I did not personally open them.

Hopefully these are isolated event and I have not heard of anything else like this happening except for the 2 events in this post.

The funny thing is I have bought tons (literally) of the Vinylmation booster sets as you can probably tell by how many Vinylmation pins I have, and this is the only time in the two years or so that they've been making them that something like this has ever happened. So weird! I couldn't help but laugh because I was wondering if it was a chaser of chasers though...thinking I hit the jackpot of Vinylmation pins LOL

Based upon some of my experience buying mystery pins my guess is that there are guests or possibly cast members who go through packs to feel for which chaser pin is in the set (based on the feel of the chaser pin through the bag). The next step in that parade is just swapping out the chaser with another one. I personally think that would be pretty hard for a guest to do, especially with a bunch of them as in the case above. That leaves it to a cast member, possibly a stocker, to have the best opportunity to do something like that.

I will not buy mystery boxes where the boxes have even the remotest hint of having been opened or tampered with. Hate to feel that way but given the quantities of pins I've purchased my 'bad luck' with chasers is far outside the limits of fair chance.
