[h=5]With a lot of craziness over the beloved tales pins lately, old and new releases, I'm keen to hear peoples thoughts on them, and if they think collectability will increase or decrease with time...some pins are a lot more sought after than others, as with most collections, but I wonder if the lesser sought after ones now, will eventually become more difficult to obtain too....more and more seem to be collecting them, myself included! I have decided to take the plunge and collect a few....thoughts welcome :)[/h]

I could be wrong but I feel like there has been a boom in people collecting them. To me it seemed to happen right after the last PODM was released. It's like everyone has gotten their PODMs and have now moved on to collecting BLT.

I was just wondering if there would be a recommended strategy to collecting these, in particular with new releases...is it better to get them when theyre released, or wait until prices reduce somewhat, if they do lol!! My main collection is UP, and still is but I thought I'd attempt some of these as theyre such pretty pins. There will probably be some I'll never be able to get like Little mermaid, and Beauty and the beast but may be fun trying :) I seem to be seeing a lot posting a bout BTs lately on this forum....seems a lot of people collect them!!

Well to put it this way, before I took a pause from the pin stuff in October, the Oliver and Co was going for around 20-25 bucks. The last 4 on the bay sold for 129.99, 88.02, 53.55, 102.50 though someone was able to nab it for 16 bucks in January lol. So I think even some of the lesser wanted ones will be going up in price and probably more difficult to get.

omg lol!! Ive just done a trade for the oliver one :D I just think theyre such lovely looking pins.....I wonder why people are going so crazy over them, maybe they think the same as me :) Thanks Shannon for the info, had no idea, sounds like maybe they all will be tough to get hold of :(

The difference between February and March is just pure silliness. It makes me want to start quoting Jackie Chiles!

It's lewd, lascivious, salacious ... outrageous!!

I think we've successfully replaced the Housing Bubble with the Beloved Tales Bubble!

This is only my 2 cents ;)

Most DSF pins are sought after for the time being, mainly because there are no decent pins coming from anywhere else. Every now and then, you see few nice new pins from WDI, but most of them are cartoonish and the sorcerer hats became boringly predictable imo.

PoDMs either took a break, or they are all gone. Although I love PoDMs, I can't say that I am missing the strain they were putting on my wallet

So, until ds.com offers some decent pins, DSF pins are the only good ones remaining coming out in US. If that status quo will shift or not, only time will tell. I think if we see elegantly designed LE 250 pins from ds.com again which will become accessible to anyone on-line, DSF pins might cool down a bit.

I am a BT collector and I do love them. But, I think they are really hyped right now. Best of luck if you decide to collect them :)

These BT pins are just going crazy. I think a lot of people are getting frustrated trying to get them, myself included. My first Beloved tales pins came through a phone order, that's right, two weeks after a release. I got seven pins, all different for their sticker price. I didn't have to camp out, I didn't have to sell my children, I only had to pay like $4.00 for shipping. I don't know what has happened. With the following they have I wonder if a larger release of future pins would help the pin community. If it was ramped up to 750 or even 1000 pins per release it would give the rest of the world (no offense Cali traders) a chance to get some of these without emptying our 401K's though it does give a much better return in profit at this point in time. Good luck if you are starting out with these! If it sounds like I am complaining, I'm not. I'm just sayin'.

I just say wow to the 15 buyers and 15 sellers that have already sold sets of April release, a month in advance! Most are $400 it seems. I haven't seen this much pre selling hype of a release since Brave when the marquee was doing $90-$100 each.
This release will be nuts and you have mostly anonymous DPF'ers to thank for the craziness and long line that it will become. The same day as a WDI release too. I really hope WDI shows their stuff early on the CM hub so we can see what they have. Hopefully DSF will have a battle plan for the madness they're creating.
BT's are so interesting to me. They exploded after the Up BT with the "buddy" knowledge of a Tangled on the way and all the hype that brought. But those aren't the most expensive, like the marquee world. Up is under $200. It's the old ones that are nuts. Aristocats going to $200, just silly. There are fewer BT's than marquees so maybe they seemed easier to complete. I just see a 100 people that all started trying BT's since last June and that's why they blew up.

I honestly don't get it. They are great pins, and with an LE of 300 they're rare, but I still don't see how a random scene from each movie is so prized and hard to come by that it commands $500 or more (Robin Hood???)
I can see them doubling or tripling in price but this exponential value on ebay is beyond my comprehension.

Something to consider with BT prices as well as other pin prices, people have money burning a hole in their pockets right now due to tax refunds. I wonder if we'll see the same craziness in another month or so.

I think its just that their quality is exceptional. For me, I really like the princess ones the best, because I am princess obsessed. But I think that every BT depicts the most iconic (usually) scene of a film, and makes us feel really sentimental while looking at them. At lest, that is how it is for me. I love the materials used on them. I didn't really understand the obsession until I held one in my hand (my first one was Lilo and Stitch). They're just really spectacular in quality, and it made me want to get more of them. I can't afford to pay the prices for them though, so I will wait for them to hopefully go down in price. If they don't, well, that is why they are on my grail signature! :)

I do think that most of them are very pretty...with the exception of the Tangled one! Maybe it looks nicer in person, but it looks rushed, not nearly the amount of detail as the other pins. The whole bottom third of the pin is a shadow! I mean Pocahontas, Sleeping Beauty, Little Mermaid are all gorgeous...and then the plain looking to me tangled one...

Me too! Glad to know I'm not alone!

Also... I started collecting these beauties last fall. I got more serious in December and now I only have 8 to go! Unfortunately, I wish I would have purchased them all prior to the Tangled BT release. I'm not sure if I'll get the last 8 to complete the set anytime soon, but I'm a patient person.

I think values will hold fairly steady, perhaps the occasional slip in price... But sadly, I don't see them going to pre-Tangled prices anytime soon. :(

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news or not but according to the pinpics you have you have 10 more to go besides the ones that are coming out in a couple weeks.

I think you guys pre-buying multiple sets are actually smart, well hopefully you are smart and bought from different people. I foresee a lot of "Oh sorry, I couldn't get them." Even if they do get them, if the prices day of shoot way up, they will just refund and sell for higher. I wouldn't agree to those terms.

I've preordered from forum members. I trust that they would not do this to me... But if they do, I'll have money available to buy them. Either is okay with me.

Not up to date :). Also I'be preordered the other ones.

Very cool. :) You must have some highly tradeable pins to get all of them that fast. I'm still trying to get them and I only have 4 so far. Beauty and the Beast, The Three Caballeros, Fox and the Hound and Mickey and the Beanstalk.

BaTB is a great starting pin to have :). Congrats on that.
