Do you have pins on your Wants list that you do not actually want?

I was just talking with someone who I had been sending requests too, and while they want some of what I have, but not the ones I had been offering, so it got me thinking:

Why would someone have pins on their wants they currently do not need or want? Would that not flood your box with requests for trades you do not want to do?

I think it depends on what pins you are looking for at the time of the requests. Sometimes I turn requests down because I don't actually need that certain pin and I know that I could try and get a pin that I really do want with the trader being asked. Although, I do impulse 'add' pins that I do want.

That seems a bit strange! I do, to some degree, want every pin on my "wants" list even if some of them are just kind of "meh, I'll get around to them someday".

Maybe this person just isn't very good about keeping their list up-to-date. People's "wants" can change over time.

That person may just have those pins on their wants to try and flesh out deals, or to take them in strictly when they're offered at a really good rate. Were they newer pins? If so, that might be the case.

It is possible that they trade one character for the same character, like Stitch for Stitch, and when they get offered a Pluto, which is easier to get, they do not want to give up their harder to get Stitch pin, but had you offered a Pluto, the situation could have been different. Also, everyone has a way of updating their files. I never take a pin off of my wants until I have it on hand. A lot of times, traders offer me a pin I just made a trade for with somebody else, so there is no point in trading for it again. Yet, it will stay on my wants list for possibly a week until I receive the pin, so every time I get an offer, I have to say no thank you, which will probably make some traders wonder why I have it on my wants list.

We will never know why trades are not accepted, but I know a lot of people with good reasons for having a pin on their wants list, but not trading for it. Leopardpolkadotspots gave a good reason and mom24k9s did too. And all of us have different answers, so I imagine there are lots more coming.

I have some pins on my wants list that complete sets, but aren't really that wanted other than for set completion. There are some pins that I have for trade that I would trade to knock those pins off. But it seems like I only get requests for about 5 pins from my trades list and I wouldn't trade any of them for this group. It's the ol', "if I trade that for a lesser want, I won't have it to possibly trade for a much higher want."

I keep some pins on my wants list that I just haven't bought from the stores yet. I "want" it, but don't want to trade for.

For instance, I add the "Then and Now" series to my wants, but I get them directly from the stores once they become available. I find it easier to keep track of that way.

Sometimes for me the pin that I want may not be one that I truly want but I can use as one that I can trade off to get a different pin that is of equal value or better. If that makes sense.

Some pins are more "wanted" than others. It also depends what pin is being offered in trade. If someone offers me a hidden Mickey I want for one of my low LE pins, I usually say "no thank you".

I have a few on my list that I really do want, but there are counterfit ones on the market.

So for those pins, I would not trade for them through a random trade request on PinPics. I would only trade for them if I knew the trader very well, or we were trading in person, and I could see/hold the pin first.

I think you need to remember that some people use pinpics for their personal inventory purposes.
This may have been said but just like the owns, so we know what we already have, some people like to have all of their wants listed so they can print it when they go to a store or something and buy the pins. It is just a mrthod of keeping track so I dont take it personal.

Like WDWJuan said, he puts them there to remember what he wants even if he will be planning on purchasing them and in many cases that may be the cheaper way to go.

Just my opinion.......

I've had that happen to me, too. The trader said he was just not looking to trade for those particular pins at this time. He said those pins weren't high on his wants list but he would like to get them eventually, just not now.

I used to have pins that other people wanted on my wants because I needed a pin they had, but other than that not really.

How true this is! I know I would be lost without pinpics.

I agree. It's so frustrating when that happens. Another thing that happened to me recently that always is frustrating is when someone sends you a request and you send them a message back saying "yes i would like to do this trade" and they respond back saying. already traded that pin.
It's like, "Uh, then why did you send me the request if you didn't want to do the trade?' So, kind of similar feelings there. haha.
I know atleast if I do offer trades on pinpics, I make sure I don't offer someone else the same pin to keep people from getting annoyed like that.
On another note I do also think that people have different levels of "wants" on their wants list. Difference between must have this pin now and I'll get around to completing that set when I get around to it. I also think that some people don't think it's worth the postage if it's something that they don't really really want because they might have over 1,000 pins or so on their wants list. Wow, I can rant on forever, sorry. Haha. =]

I do want the pins on my wants list but do turn down trades if the pin being asked for isnt one I would trade the offer for In other words some of my wants are more important than others for instance DCL pins

All the pins that went on my wants list was put there to trade/purchase when I either had pins I could trade or had money to get them. I didnt care which pins I got as long as I was getting something off my wants list as at the end of the day, you may not get that offer again etc I doubt I would be down to only 13 wants if I was that picky.

I will add though that I did search for specific pins in this order - UP, St Patricks day stitch, stitch invasion/stitch experiment pins. It paid off for me to search for them individually as I was able to concentrate on a set number of pins rather than everything at once but if I got a trade request for something I was searching for i(.e. st patricks day stitch pin while I was searching for UP) I still accepted the trade request.

I say if there on your wants list you WANT them...if your not searching or wanting to trade for them, remove them.

I have actually put pins on my wants list in the past then thought better of it and removed them XD! I did get a trade request in that way so yeah I have said I don't actually want those pins but I went and removed the pins from my wants list soon after.

Pretty much the same here.

Ummm, because they accepted another trade response from the same bulk trade request? In other words, someone beat you to it.

I agree with Abyssinian28 that they probably agreed to another trade before you sent yours. I have had it happen to me and Ive done it as to me its first come first serve. If people reply after a few days after I agreed to it then thats down to them and for me personally if I have not heard from people after 2-3 days I assume its not a trade for them.

No big deal its just pot luck.

I dont see how people could send only one trade request for 1 pin at a time as that would take to long. As if I had a pin that I a few people want and see *what I can trade for this pin* and I get 15 options. Im going to be clicking each one that I think is worth it not 1 at a time lol

I want every single pin on my Wants list, but some I want more than others. I have over 300 Wants, but I don't have the best traders in the World, so sometimes I have to be a bit selective. So for example, someone might offer me something off my Wants list for one of my better traders. Even if it's a fair offer, if the pin that they offered isn't very high on my Wants, I may decline.

I put pins on my wants list that I actually want, whether I hope to get them from a trade or I plan/expect to purchase them myself. Part of my problem is that, somewhere along the lines, I'd gotten lazy and neglected to remove pins from my wants list after I'd acquired them ... which is part of the reason why I'm not currently trading right now. Until I actually go through both my pins and my wants list, I'm not actually sure which pins I still actually want (need to pursue) and which ones should have been removed so long ago that it isn't actually funny.

One of these days, I'm just going to buckle down and actually sort everything out, but until then, I just have no business actively trading.

Kind of.

Sometimes when a pin comes out I think I want it but I have a hard time ever giving anything up for it. After awhile of it being on my wants list, sometimes I realize that I just don't want it anymore and take it off.

Then there are pins that I already have but would be willing to trade for the to use as traders. Not because I am fishing for deals, but because rotating out my traders might be good. If I'm not getting anywhere with what I have then I would trade fairly for something that might trade better for what I'm looking for.

And then there are the pins that get accidentally get put on your list because someone posts a link from their wants list and when you click it the pin gets added to your list.

Most often my problem is that I don't seem to have very many middle range traders that people want. I have low range pins that people don't want to trade their better stuff for multiples of and likewise, I have higher end stuff that I dont want to trade in return for lower multiples. So, that's why pins will stay on my list for awhile, it may seem like I don't want them, and sometimes it turns out that I don't and I just haven't figured that out yet.

I don't see what they're beating me to. He asked me to trade. So I feel that why would they ask me to trade when they can't do the trade. That's why bulk requesting is frustrating
