I’m new here. I inherited several hundred Disney trading pins and I’m trying to figure out what I have. Most don’t have cards and are in pin bags or “books”, if you will. I’ve been looking around here and I see everyone has a specific number attached to each pin. Where do I find the number for each pin? Where do I find out what these pins are worth? I really appreciate any help anyone is willing to give me. I need a starting point. Thanks

The numbers are from Pinpics.com. The way that I look up values is by looking at sold listing on ebay

As the others have said, Pinpics is a good online encyclopedia for pins. It gives you info on the pin, but if you're not going to trade, that's about all it can do for you.

For value, you'll probably just want to use ebay. Use "sold" listings, as the unsold listings are sometimes super exaggerated.

Unfortunately, for both of them, you'll have to search for each pin by a loose description. It does take time. Depending on what you're going to do with them, you might want to consider getting someone to help for a cut. Just depends on how much time you have and how big the job is.

    Good luck!

Nice! Any chance you're keeping them and getting sucked into this pin trading world? It's addicting and fun!

I don’t think so. This was my mom’s hobby. She passed a few years ago and I boxed them up and left them there. I now have a little spare time and thought I’d try to go through it and maybe get them into the hands of people that enjoy them.

Something tells me my kids will have to go through this too! Hopefully I can leave them a somewhat catalogued collection though. I can definitely work on it though that's for sure! Meanwhile I'll keep working on sucking them in. Hehe

You may also want to post group shots here, I'm sure many of us here can help you spot rare pins.

Being a new member, am I allowed to post pictures yet? Am I allowed to post them here? Or should they be posted somewhere else? Don’t want to break any rules. Thank you all for your help and offers to assist. It’s greatly appreciated

Not here or in the marketplace. If you're looking for help on identifying your pin, you can post them in this portion of the forum:
    Help me Identify This Pin!

You have to use an outside photosharing website that will allow you to post the pictures here. Photobucket stopped letting that happen a few months ago (that is why you will see broken links). That is why IMGUR or FLICKR is recommended. I use IMGUR (haven't yet set up an account with FLICKR) so I can only tell you how to copy & paste pix from there.

With IMGUR, create an account so you will have the pictures uploaded somewhere for easy reference back. Open the picture in a new window (after uploading) and then right click on the picture to "copy image." Then paste it here. That way, we don't just get a link to the IMGUR picture, but actually see it. If you create links to outside websites, we may just delete it since we won't know whether it's malicious or not.

When you take your pictures, take them in groups of NO MORE THAN five pins. Take the pictures against a plain background (black or white is preferred to help bring out the colors) and in natural light (indirect sunlight is best). Don't take a picture of you (or anyone else) cupping the pins in your (or their) hand(s). Don't take the picture against a flowery bedspread or tablecloth
