Hey all,

I recently purchased a pin off of eBay from a seller in France. Nothing really expensive, but still... I purchased on May 27, and got an eBay-mail from the seller on Jun 11 (in English) saying they forgot to mail it, and were sending it out on Saturday. Well, I still didn't receive it on July 6 so I opened an eBay request.

On July 10 I got two responses from the seller (in French, which I don't speak). Google translate suggests that they said: "Why did you wait a month to contact me?" and "I indicated the tracking number; it left from California on June 19". Well, the reason I waited so long was I thought it was coming from France, and that can take some time...

On July 12, I got a response (in English) that they could send me the "ticket of the US post office" if I wanted it (uh, yeah!), but nothing—why not just attach it to this eBay-mail?

So, I responded this morning (July 18) and said I still haven't got it, and yes I would like a tracking number.

They responded (in English) with the tracking number and said they had already given me the number (um, no). So, I went to USPS tracking, and it said that this package was delivered on June 14 to my city and zip code... But I never got it!! And the seller said they didn't mail it from California until June 19, so how did I "get" it on June 14???

They haven't pressed the issue yet, but USPS said it was delivered, so I'm sure eBay will side with them. But I never got it! Is there anything I can do to have the USPS check on it? I don't want to punish the eBay seller, because USPS said that it was delivered. But I want my pin!!

Any thoughts or suggestions would be welcomed. Thanks.

Call USPS and open a claim. They can tell you exactly where it was delivered and how much it weighed. Most pin packages weigh between 2-3 oz for a single pin unless they're smaller. They should have also bought their label through eBay, which would have automatically given you tracking. It sounds incredibly suspicious to me that they didn't. Ask for a copy of the shipping label with proof of shipment from the seller. There is a scam where they send a package in the same zip code, but the wrong address.
