I'll be heading down to WDW in April and I would like to know if anyone has any tips they would like to share? I will not be staying on property and will be frequenting the Disney Springs Area and spending one day each in Magic Kingdom and Epcot.

Is there anything specific that I should know before I go or about etiquette since this will be my very first time actually trading and not just hoarding pins?

Have fun, you can only exchange two pins per trade with Disney Cast Members. I would keep a spare pack of pins and exchange the newly obtained pin for later review or trade.
Check out a few of the stores as they sometimes have pin boards, again there is a two pin limit.

You can ask to see a pin before you make a decision. Hold it, look at it, turn it around and
then decide. :)

Thank you for the advice. It's good to know that you can only do two trades per cast member.

Such a good tip! That will be very helpful in deciding if I like a pin enough to trade for it.

I just have fun trading. Will trade with a Cast Member (CM) or kids for pin even if it is not one I looking to get, just to trade. I used to be very specific until I noticed some of the CMs looked disappointed I didn't trade with them. Sometimes I get scrappers, other times I get real pins. If I can tell it is a scrap pin, I'll see if family/friends want it, if not I toss it in the trash. Drives my wife nuts when I get in a trading mood. She wants to go somewhere and I just disappear chasing a pin. Just so you know, not all CMs trade. If they do, they will either have a lanyard or a hip lanyard. One note, if their lanyard is green they will only trade with kids!

Thank you for the good advice. I didn't know at all about the green lanyards. From what I am hearing I shouldn't focus on scrappers/fakes versus authentic pins. Just trade for the things I like and that I am happy with the quality of.

When I approach a CM, I remind myself to first look at their EYES, not their lanyard (lol), and greet them before asking to look at their pins.

Asking themtfor their pin to look at, rather than touching their lanyard. Heck, I ask before I pull a pin off of a trading board!

Also, another rule I've heard is that you can't offer a pin in trade if they already have that pin displayed.

Have fun!!!!!!!!!

That is some excellent advice. CMs are human first and pin trading second. It must be tempting to zero in on the pins right away. Hopefully they won't have too many of the pins I picked up for traders right now. I was hoping to get a few of the new HMs if possible, but I don't know if I'll find any. I will always remember to ask permission before I touch any pin. I feel like it is just good manners.
