I read about pinpics here and thought it'd be nice to catalog my pins on pinpics, which I would have to do over time - I have a lot of pins! :) I'm noticing that pins have multiple entries - the same pin can have several different numbers.

How do you choose the right one?

Actually, every pin should have only one entry, and the PinPics admins are fairly vigilant about that. The only time you should see something duplicated is if it was part of a set so it might be listed with the set and then separate. Keep in mind that a lot of pins can be similar to each other. Maybe that's what you're seeing? Do you have an example?

You also might be seeing the regular version and the artist proof version.
Agree... If it an artist proof or pre production this usually appears at end of pin name/identifier. The description will also say something about it being a artist proof or pre production.

Send us pinpics pin numbers for a pin in this situation. I am sure you will receive some specific and helpful info as to what you are seeing. :)

Okay, here's an example. I actually started with my Small World pins because they're my favorites. :)

Pin # 61057
Pin # 65253

I guess it doesn't matter much, but I keep not being sure which one to pick.

65253 is an Artist Proof. That means, if you look on the back, there will be a "AP" stamped somewhere. These are things that are sent to Disney as part of the manufacturing process, not the ones that end up being sold. They get into the collector community, because Disney puts them on the trading boards at the Epcot Pin Event, or high level managers wear them on their lanyards, and if people have "connections."

So you want to add 61057 to your list, because that's the retail version.

Aha! That explains that! I have to look closer is the lesson here. But now I know & as GI Joe always said, knowing is half the battle. :)

I have a pin that has an AP stamped on the back, but I bought it at - I forget the name - the pin store in Downtown Disney (which I know has a new name, it's not Downtown Disney anymore, but the new name escapes me right now.) I always wondered what that meant. I will have to look for it. It was ladybugs, I think.

This is actually a lot of fun for me.

THANK YOU GUYS!!!! :)

For reference there are regularly duplicates added to Pinpics. It was something that I and other regulars would help correct when the site used to be crowdsourced under the former owners. Now I just see them added and shake my head at the ignorance of those running the site allowing them to go through.
