Where pins make me happy
Some friends just got a present from their brother who ought them a pin set at Galaxy's Edge. I was super surprised when they held it up during Skype and it was the old Cute Star Wars pin set but it was on a plain black Disney card marked "Limited Edition". Looked like this:

Now, I got one of these a while ago and thought it was a fake, since this set is anything but limited. I figured this was a China/HK creation. However, our friends got them straight out of Galaxy's Edge! And they took a pin off the card and looked for me, and it is not marked limited on the back. Anyone else ever seen this?

There's only a very limited selection of pins in Galaxy's Edge itself . Mostly droids . Nothing limited edition
Or at least that was the state of play in January/February .
Is it possible they just forgot which pins they bought where ?
IF Disney were to re-release a heavily faked OE set , why Limited edition and why on a backing card like that ? They stopped using felt backers a few years ago . I'm sorry but I stand by my fake opinion

Well, until last night, I'd have totally agreed! when I got one of these, I was sure it was a fake. But, just going by what their brother told them, these were bought in GE (at least in Hollywood Studios, as they said in the park). That's what super surprised me!

Only way I could see that happening is if they bought it from another trader , not a store (Which is against Disney policy but I've seen it happen both at WDW and DLP) . As long as they didn't pay too much for them and they're happy with them , all power to them . But if you were thinking of trying to track down a set for yourself I'd advise against it :)

Um . . . no. Happily we already have the pins from this set that we want. They got this set and a Woody and a Buzz pin. Sis and I are wondering if the bro said they were from GE but really they went to a discount store. Seems odd . . . when I saw the LE backer card. They just went last week, so it is current.

Is there a barcode on the back or a disney sticker? If so perhaps someone returned the fake set inside the park and the cast member gave them the benefit of the doubt and put it back out for sale on a rack? It's also easy to get confused as to where you bought things if you bought them at many different places on a long trip. Could have been a case where they bought some things like you said at a off site location and others inside and simply miss-remembered where they got that set? Or like you said it could be that they just said it was inside the park when they knew it wasn't difficult to know.

Well . . . Sis just got off the phone with our friends. She sent a pic of the back, as I asked what the price tag looked like and where it was. (As for not remembering . . . no. Probably bought it at a non-Disney store, but didn't want to say. Their Mom specifically asked their bro to get a souvenir at GE, and he said he did.) Here is a picture of the price tage, which isn't Disney and is on the plastic and not the card. So, I bet he bought this outside.

So, there it is! Guess we answered it! :) I was just so confused when they showed it to us last night!

Busted indeed. Sad for your friends too since they were supposed to get a real GE present :eeyore:. And sad for the bro too as that seems way overpriced for being outside the parks and a fake to boot. Guessing that he forgot to get something inside the park and did the best he could after the fact???
