How did you find us?

There have been quite a few new users joining us lately. Which is awesome, but I'm always curious as how people find our little corner of the pin world these days. I notice that when I ask Claude some pin related questions, the results refer to posts from here so that's why "AI" is also included as a choice. Carousel of Progress, I suppose!

Within a year or so of my start in 2014, I found DisneyPinForum by doing disney pin searches (ie, pin research) on google. I cannot remember exactly what was my trigger to become a member... I remember being slightly intimidated by all of the info and the pin activities. Especially the games. I remember not even wanting to look at the games (that one took me years to get over). Auctions... I felt clueless. All of it was so new.

It took time to gel and build the network of great pin pals I now have because of DPF. Now here I am loving this platform/website and hoping others get as much out of it as I have.

I found the forum through a search for pin trading events. A top result was to one of @TheMickeyMouseRules posts for an event and I loved seeing all the different info about pins and things so I joined! It’s been great to be a part of such a fun group of pin people.

Pin & Pop link for me. Now how I stumbled upon Pin and Pop is a blur. But this community was so vital to understanding how to navigate my first TA, especially since I refuse to do Meta.

I was actually looking for I believe the old Dizpins forum because I used to be on there back when I first started trading. Realized it was defunct but found this forum (and very happy I did, everyone is so sweet.)

Yep! We are the phoenix that rose from Dizpins ashes. As the announced closure of their forums is what prompted our site owner @Cicada and his cousins to start this place. Our other admin @dancecats, as well as me (mostly a lurker back then), users like @Jabberwocky and a few others my mind is blanking on, are also remnants from the Dizpins era.

I was lost and heartbroken when Dizpins dissolved. It was everything in the early 2000's.
But I found DPF which I visit constantly. How is our 15th Anniversary Donation Drive going??
This then led me to PTDB and a friendly race with @TheMickeyMouseRules to see who could post the most pins (balloons).
She won (3,735 vrs 3,417) and here is a shoutout to @starry_solo for 17,189 pin entries,
to which eventually helped Pin & Pop to materialize.

I chose word of mouth but it was online word of mouth if that counts 😅 I use to be part of VinylNation which seems crazy to me that Vinylmations have been gone for about 10 years now but hear we are 😂 (funny that they keep coming out with other plastic blind boxes that they could easily make Mickey shape and just not over saturate the market with them but I digress…)

I can’t remember who I heard it from on the site, but I was starting to take my pin collecting seriously in 2011 which my mom has been in since a fantasyland park pin was given to her as an entrance gift before my time in the late 80s early 90s. I am forever grateful I was introduced to such a refreshing fun community to learn from and thankful to all the behind the scenes work and active members that keeps this place thriving and such a fun resource to visit 😍❣️
