Please forgive my rant and I'm going to try not to violate any forum rules (please let me know if I inadvertently do) but I just had two of the worst online trading experiences through pinpics that I've ever had.

The first trade I was offered Pin 89191 (Disney Store Europe - Disney The Muppets) for any of the following four pins:
Pin 70690: DSF - Disney Pixar's Up - Carl Fredrickson
Pin 70691: DSF - Disney Pixar's Up - Russell with Dug
Pin 77805: DSF - El Capitan Marquee - Disney Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
Pin 80932: DSF - El Capitan Marquee - A Christmas Carol - 2010

So I accepted for with my pins 77805 or 80932. I didn't hear anything back. Then for the next few days I kept getting the same offer of the Muppets pin from this trader but now it was only for the Up pins. I ignored those requests for a few days since I had already emailed an acceptance from previous and then I finally heard back from the person and now the person only wanted to trade for the Disney Up pin Russell with Dug. Then why didn't the person only ask for that pin in the first place? Why tell me they'd accept the Marquee pins if that is not the case? Consequently I told this trader I would not trade my Up pins to him for any pins he had since he did not honor the original trade he offered that I accepted.

But that pales to the frustration I received in dealing with another trader. This trader sent me the following request (abbreviated to save space):

******** offers nWoJeffDW this pin: Pin 88822 (DSF - Valentine's Day 2012 - Carl and Ellie - Chairs)
In return for one of these pins:
Pin 70690 (DSF - Disney Pixar's Up - Carl Fredrickson)
Pin 70691 (DSF - Disney Pixar's Up - Russell with Dug)

The next day the emails went like this:

My Acceptance:
I'd be happy to trade my two pins for the Wedding and Mailbox pins. Do I have anything in my trades you'd be willing to consider for the other two Up pins?

what do you mean?

Unfortunately not for trade. The Marquee pins I have for trade that are on your wants are the two different Peter Pan marquees, Underdog, and A Christmas Carol.
I'd be willing to trade all four Marquees above for the remaining two UP pins. So you'd get 6 pins and send me 4.

I have to say at this point I have never been so frustrated with a trade as this one. It seems like you're just messing with me by asking questions I've already answered and now sending me this reply that you did. You initiated the trade. I accepted. But apparently that is not enough for you. I'm giving up on this trade because I don't think you ever intended to trade. All you succeeded in doing is making me upset and I have no desire to ever trade with you in the future. I've never had a more miserable experience in an online trade.


Was I wrong in my frustration? Didn't seem like this person was messing with me and not really ever serious about trading? I'm fine if person didn't want to make the additional trade, but this person should have just told me straight out instead of stringing me along. Regardless, I will never entertain a trade with either of the above traders again.

Sorry again for the rant but I had to get it off my chest.

Sounds like you got a problem. I hope you get it resolved soon. Don't feel bad I had to get my rant out about pin trading.

That second exchange is just RIDICULOUS, I would have been so frustrated too. I don't know about you though but I always find that after I deal with someone unreasonable or have a bad experience, a really good trade is just around the corner. :)
 
I think the first person just clicked on the wrong pins in their first offer( I know that I do that on occasion when I'm sending out trade requests). The second trader just sounds completely off.
 
This is totally hilarious since I had almost the exact same experience. I was offered the UP set in exchange for my Dug pins. When I ask if I had something to trade for the other two UP pins the conversation went to heck in a handbasket. It was almost exactly like yours. Must be the same trader who has apparently lost their mind - and their pins:)
 
Some of the offers/counter offers are getting a little weird lately. I did this offer last night

Not a perfect trade, but fairly equal in rarity, LE, etc. I was expecting a counter offer, of maybe adding one additional pin from my side to make it a little more even

They came back with a counter offer for these pins out of my traders for the 1 PTN Tigger

Sounds like the old story joke about "Who's on First..." I would have been so confused and ill with this exchange, and I must say you handled it great!
 
Oh ... Just reading it made me feel like somebody was squeezing my chest. I can't imagine how you must have felt actually experiencing this. I hope you get the UP pins you want soon and from someone nice & reasonable :)
 
Sounds like the same guy I've been going round and round with about Up pins last couple of days. I was a little confused and frustrated too so I gave up on his emails.
 
This sounds like a real life retelling of the old "Who's on First" routine! Somehow , I stopped laughing at this one before the halfway point, though. Sorry that you had such a miserable experience. Hopefully, your next trade will be your best one ever.
 
Don't get too upset over it- I've run into a couple of these over the years, and they seem to have communication issues somehow (either they're of average intelligence, or they have a mental condition, or they just can't communicate well).

I basically do what you did- bow out and avoid them from that point on.

It's frustrating, but once you get to the point where you're like, "Oh...okay...there's something not clicking here, on their end", it's easier to brush it off.

It's too bad for them, too- they're probably not able to make trades well because of it. Trading in person would probably work better for someone who can't handle the back-and-forth of online trading.
 
sounds like the same guy that offered me 23 trades...all for the same beta pin and all offering very low edition UP pins.....it was the"what do you mean?" that gave it away..lol
 
Wow. I have had a few that go 'round and 'round. First they want one pin, then a different, etc. until you're ready to just give up. Another trade will come along :-)

OMG I think I'm dealing with the SAME person for the UP set! He sent me a request asking for some of my UP pins I have for trade & when I accepted, they emailed back "sorry I dont have those pins anymore, is there anything else you want for your pins?" & I emailed them back questioning that they werent available anymore & that no, I was just interested in the set, so they emailed me back & said that they did have the set, they just didnt want to trade it for those pins! And then asked if I had anymore UP pins I'd trade, so by now I was a little frustrated & wrote back asking then WHY did you send me a request wanting to trade for my pins if you didnt want to trade them in the first place? Aaahhhh!! I'm so on the fence about wanting to continue trading these days & this guy is one of teh reasons why! Sending you a PM to see if its the same person...
 
Yea I've had people (trade requests) ask me to trade my Up set (which I'm keeping) for some pins that aren't even worth that much. Ridiculous.
 
Wow, I've had the same experience here, but not quite that bad .
This member not only contacted me here on the forum, but on pin pics as well .
Someone wanted my Tangled Gondola & Rapunzel Christmas pin doll . They offered me something I really, really, wanted . :anxious: along with some of my wants for sale . The trade was for BATB Human Again and the pin I chose to buy was Belle's Teachers Day pin with sheep .
I explained I did not have the Rapunzel doll pin yet as its in transit from Paris, but as soon as I received my Tangled Gondola, I was willing to send it to honor the trade in good faith . Talk about taking a chance !
I've recently been chatting with another member about a trade, for another pin this member wants .
I saw him/her on the forum last night , right down to looking at their profile to see if they were looking . Sure enough profile said Private Messaging . So, I know this member is reading the PM's .
Are members truly that rude that they can not send you a message stating, I'm sorry but changed my mind . It's short , takes no time at all and doesn't leave you hanging .
Like why even bother sending a PM & request and than not follow through .
I feel your frustration .
 
Hey all,

im learning that the second trader has been doing to others what he did to me and it's always for Up pins. I think he's trying to do a bait and switch, as he finds out who has rare Up pins the reneges on the trade he offered to try to do something else. I also looked at his trades and wants and he has the sme Up pins on both lists. Best to just avoid this guy.
 
I noticed that too Jeff, that he had the same pins on both his trades & wants. Whatever he's trying to do, I hope it backfires on him. So glad to have this forum & hear I'm not the only one this happened to & also to let others know what he's up to. :)
