I feel a bit cheated in my latest auction I bid on. I had the winning bid and then a minute AFTER the acution was supposed to end someone bids and wins. No chance for me to up my bid when bids come in after the auction ends and they win.

EDIT: For those new to the thread, the winner didn't mean to snipe. They were stuck on how to upload a photo of their PODM and gave up. And dont' be upset at the auctioner. I just want to facilitate some conversation about how we as a forum may be able to implement something like a snipe-clause to allow for a leader to add to a bid if someone posts in the last 10,15,30 mintues of an auction.

I took a look, and I don't think that's fair at all. If I were the auctioneer, I wouldn't have accepted the bid. It was only one minute late, but nonetheless late.

Bidding late in an auction so the other bidders don't have a chance to update their bids is a tactic I've seen on the auction site as well, and although not nice, it's unfortunately a prefectly fair thing to do as following the rules go.

If I were you I'd feel the same way. Sorry to hear about this :(

I'm not super bummed like it was a HTF pin I want but it was a pretty cool little holiday toy and I told my wife about it and she was excited to try it. I agree that a Brave booster pack doesn't match up to a PODM pin but I would have upped the bid given the chance. I guess we need DPF auction sniper! haha.

I would talk to the mods. The auction stated it ended at 8 not 8:01. You clearly should have won. I would feel cheated also. Have you talked to the person that was doing the auction and let them know how you feel?

I guess it is a good thing this forum keeps track of the exact time post were made (versus other forums I frequent don't, they just say posted x hours/days ago)

I had a very similar experience but i was the dope in this one. i listed by the forum clock but it was an hour slow for me and was supposed to end an hour earlier by cali time. it got figured out with help from stephanie so dont assume that the other person was sniping. it could have been a number of things. unfortunately last minute bidding is very common and that is the point, to put in a last minute bid so noone can top you. as for the time thing, if it was correct then you should have won. wait i bid on that too! i should have won. WAA! i never win! :)

Happy trades
Kirk

It's ok, I'm not mad at Rachel or the winner. Just kinda bummed. I would have expected a pm at the least. I just think a last minute bid should allow a time for the current leader a chance to counter. Live and learn.

Sorry Rachel, didn't mean to throw criticism at you publicly, just annoyed with how it ended.

Just my 2 cents but maybe we could allow one final bid from the person who was in first place if sniping occurred for an auction. This would allow the person who was in first place to try to win it one last time. If there aren't any sniping bids then whoever was in first place would just win. Thoughts?

On a site I play on a lot they have an anti snipe rule. This basically means that if someone put in a bid at the last minute, in the hopes of sniping another bidder, the other bidder has 10 mins to up their bid. and so on and so forth until someone gives up basically. anti snipe - a bidders best friend ^_^!

I'm confused by this thread. I agree that a last minute snipe is fine and makes it so others can't bid again, but according to the original post the bid happened AFTER the auction officially ended, so doesn't that mean that all bids after that time will not be considered? So yes, sniping does happen and is fair, but this wasn't sniping. This was an extra bjd after bids were closed. It'd be like if time was up on an eBay auction and you placed a new bid after the auction ended. Am I crazy or am I making sense?

Its sniping. I made a post stating people will start doing this to prevent over biding and prevent others from being able to counter their bid. Its wrong it was posted 8:01 but if it were posted at 8:00 you still would not have been able to; Look up the post, research the pins, than be able to add a counter in less than 59 secs (thats if that person even decided to give you that much time to react).

+1 to the "legit" guy ;)

The winner PM'd me, they didn't mean to snipe. They said they were trying upload a picture of their PODM and by the time they gave up it just posted a minute after. Oh well. Like I said, live and learn. I guess it's gonna be like eBay and I have to watch and refresh over and over.

I knew the seller was going by the forum clock because there was a few posts with a countdown that sync'd with the post times.

Also, please don't be mad at Rachel. I would rather this thread go in the direction of construction ideas on how to avoid it in the future. Perhaps a no snipe rule, where if someone posts in the last 15 minutes the current leader gets a chance to add, and so on with the sniper until it's over. Like auction overtime or something.

Hey Mark,

Just saw this and I did not see the time stamped when tinawap bid so you are the real winner. I will send a PM to you later. I have been busy packing and need to be out of my house by the 24th as I am moving.

Would have appreciated it if you had messaged me first about this instead of posting this making me look like a bad person.

Sorry, I edited my first post just now, I intended to start conversations on how to avoid auction sniping, intentional or not. Not, make you look bad. If I were you I'd rather have the PODM too! I don't want you to be unhappy with what you get, so if you'd rather have the PODM, then by all means, please proceed with that.
