I am just trying to understand how does some of the DPF members on the board get such hard pins?? I mean like I have seen people's amazing mail day or things they get in trades and they get what seems to be impossible to get or even try trading for. I just feel this because I am starting to wonder if I am doing something wrong here or are my pins not good enough??

I just dont know...I feel down because nowadays I feel like when I try to get the hard pins no one wants to trade with me but I have seen others get some extremely rare pins and I try to understand what they do to get it....I dont know...I just feel lost here and wish I knew what to do. There are so many pins that I want out there that are so hard to get but I still see people get them somehow and after looking at some of the peoples traders I just dont know how they got them...

I am not trying to sound down or make people think aww shes complaining or whatever cuz I am not. I am just trying to understand here and it just feels like noone ever talks to me much here either. But to those who have traded with me from the past I want to say thank you!! You all have made my day!! And I am very lucky to have the pins and have you in my life.

I am bringing my traders and some of my collection to the pin event this up coming Saturday in Davis in hoping of selling some to get some of the harder pins to get to buy the ones I really want. Anyways, sorry for writing this and thanks for listening....
 
Alrighty, I totally get where you are coming from! It is soo hard to look at the mail days thread and see some of these crazy pins getting traded.

But I kinda know how they get them... 1~ they had some other super nice pins to trade for them. 2~ they traded 5 pins for one. 3~ they bought the bugger on ebay. 4~ they got lucky.

Dont let it get you down. That Bambi PODM I had for so long... I got it via a pinpics trade, film cell unseen, for one of the le500 DLR PTN pins. I totally lucked out. I got a film cell with BAMBI in it. and that pin traded away via these dpf auctions so well!!! Just keep your traders up to date, include some of your nice keepers (ones that you would trade for JUST the right pin) on your trade list as well and wait. build you traders and collection a little bit at a time. you will get there.
 
Most of my stuff (and not that they are soooo great) comes from Ebay and sometimes few other DPF purchases. I also have a very kind fairy pin-mother from Cali who goes out of her way to help me.

The rest is faith, trust and pixie-dust ;)

Best of luck during the Davis event Marcia. I hope that you can get few nice pins.

I have to agree with Selen. Most do come from ebay (OMG, you should see the credit card bill sometimes!) and some come from good trades at PTNs or in the park. I get a grail here and there, but not often. Some come from trades with DPF members and that's because sometimes - just sometimes - I'm able to get something on ebay or somewhere else - that he/she actually wants!
 
I completely understand Marcia - we're pretty much in the same boat. Now, that being said, Mickey's Circus trading was an anomaly where we got several grails/mini-grails through trading.

Most of ours come from ebay, but go right onto our keeper boards. Hubby is trying to get me to stop spending money on keeps, and instead try to pick up high quality traders so as to trade for pins we want. It just depends on your mindframe I suppose, in so far as what you're looking for when buying/trading - better traders or keepers.
