Are these highly collectible/worth the $$ spent, great traders Etc.. Etc.. I don't have many dolls I have an American Girl Doll Samantha NIB and a couple of Rapunzel dolls the Precious Moments Rap doll from DL and the My first Rap doll and the Tangled ever after Flynn doll and Now a Tonner Rapunzel, never herd of him before, just happened to run across this doll and got it for a decent price, so now im wondering was this doll worth the $$ who knows about Tonner dolls?

I know lots about Tonner. I also have this doll.

If your Princess has a braid, she is the second Tonner Rapunzel doll, and is currently available. I think MSRP was just under $200. If your Rapunzel doll has long, straight, unbraided hair, she's the first edition and a bit harder to find. Generally she's available on eBay for about the MSRP, maybe even a bit less. Tonner is one of those weird companies where it generally depends on the fandom to determine value increase/decrease. Many of the Disney Princess Tonner dolls were kind of flops and ended up being clearanced out if I'm not mistaken. (Some of them had really funny looking faces, others, like Tiana, were really beautiful IMHO.)

Tonner has had a longstanding relationship with Disney, starting with, if I'm not mistaken, a line of "its a small world" Dolls.

Frankly, I love my Rapunzel Tonner. I think she's gorgeous and I wouldn't trade/sell her for the world. I think the detail work on this doll is some of their best, and the likeness is much more accurate than many of the others they've done.

This :like: x1000+

Heyyyy, yeah, Tonner's done a few other disney things. "It's a small world" was definitely one of the more recent. But if you back track a long time, he did park exclusives which are basically impossibly to find, but i'd give just about anything for them. He designed a cinderella doll in like about 8 or so years ago, and went on to do Aurora, the villains, and the basic disney princesses. The Jasmine and Ariel weren't the best, but the Belle, Tiana, and Rapunzel are amazing. Also, if any of you guys had any of the Magic Attic dolls from the nineties...he designed those too. And eventually he used those dolls as a base for his park exclusive Aurora and Cinderella.

Fun Fact: I had all of the Magic Attic dolls as a kid, and only this week did I put two and two together and realize that they're all Tonners. My mom pointed it out. :) Funny how it comes up again in the same week.

Did not know there were park exclusives Tonners, though. That's neat!

This is wayyyy cool love all the info, Mine has the braid and I paid 149.00 for it, and her face or should I just say her eyes are wonderful she's really beautiful and I had no idea there was a first and second editions and it sounds like I need to hang on to her and I need to look up magic attic dolls because I am so curious.

Frankly, I think the second edition is the more beautiful of the two. They're both gorgeous dolls, and I would hold onto it because she is really lovely, not for any potential spike in resell.

Magic Attic dolls were my life circa 1998-1999. I was totally obsessed with them!!

Congrats, I have seen this doll and she is beautiful.

Oh yes she is! ;) She is like my favorite possession. I wish they would make Ariel this accurately...

Nice! You got the second edition! That's an awesome price. Hang on to her! She'll be worth somethin one day. I also had the megan magic attic doll. That line went through a bunch, but here's one of the exclusives tonner did for DisneyWorld it's the Allison base, I believe this one's a few inches shorter than the Magic Attic and they didn't put in the acrylic/ Glass eyes there are two versions of the aurora, one from this time period and also one from the time period when Marie Osmond tried to revamp the Magic attic club:

I personally always wanted the Keisha doll and I think she'd make a great Tiana

They probably will make an ariel this great. I'd say to shoot them an email. I had the honor of meeting Robert Tonner not too long ago, and he definitely cares about what you have to say. The great thing about his dolls are how durable they are. I got the Hermione doll when I was eleven and she's still doing great, she's been in jacuzzis and god knows what else, the only thing wrong is her hand comes off if you're not careful haha, so be careful with Rapunzel's hands, they're made to be removed so you can put on her clothes easier, but if you do it too much, it loosens them. Also, if you are interested in the Magic Attic dolls, I say go for it. They're beyond durable. Mine is older than me. It's my sister's from when she was little. So it's been through a little girl and a little boy and the doll's still fine. A little wobbly and has some crazy hair, but still perfectly fine. All of his dolls have great quality. Check out his Ellowyne Wilde dolls or the dolls at Tonner Toys.

Ok so Tonner created Magic Attic Dolls and I saw a post on Ebay saying Magic Attic Dolls and American Girl dolls are made by the same company so does Tonner make/design American Girl dolls?? Because I have Samantha, I liked her because she reminded me of myself as a girl so I wanted to have her, I got her for Christmas one year a long long time ago.

Hahahaha, no no no! Pleasant company made American Girl dolls in the Beginning. Technically they were Gotz made bodies, but under Lisaenscing of Pleasant Company. Now they are made by mattel. Pleasant Rowland came up with the original Idea of them. Molly, Samantha, and Kirsten were the first three then Felicity then Addy and so on. Samantha and her best friend are now retired, so keep on to yours

I'm soooo excited your doll came into the mail I can't wait to see it. From the pictures I've seen it looks so beautiful. I also have loved hearing all the info on tonner it's really neat.I looked at the website these dolls are on and I have to say he makes some beautiful looking dolls :)

Hahaha, uhhh, I posted that stuff...Tonner designed/sculpted the Magic Attic dolls. The American Girl dolls are currently made by Mattel. Were previously made by Pleasant company. I'm not sure who was mis-informed. They're two separate companies.

Similar dolls because both American Girl and Magic Attic based the dolls themselves on characters in books and are of similar height. However, the dolls in the Magic Attic line were based on completely different characters than the American Girl characters. And Tonner did not Design American Girl dolls, not sure where you read that

I was just reasing posts on E-bay as I was scanning through the dolls and saw one for sale said Attic dolls and American girls made by same company But I was just was scanning and could have mis read but i swear thats what I read and was curious.

Tonner dolls are great. I have the Jessica Rabbit doll. Was afraid to even take her out of the box but I did and was really pleased with the quality of the doll and the clothes. I got Maleficent as a gift for someone who has a few Tonners and they are all really nicely done.

Tonner Jessica Rabbit Review

I LOVED the Magic Attic series. I have Megan, she was my favorite (probably due to the name). I had no idea Tonner made her!

And probably OT but regarding American Girl dolls: Does it bother anyone else that Samantha was retired? She had the BEST accessories, and unless I'm mistaken she's the only suffragette. Shouldn't an American Girl doll line have a doll from when women got the right to vote? (Not to mention the fact that they also got rid of Felicity, the Revolutionary War girl, and replaced her with a girl from the war of 1812, because that makes so much sense)

Anyways, back on topic... the Tonner Disney dolls seem incredibly detailed and well made, but personally I wish they were smaller. Like, if they made one of those 13" fashion dolls they have a Disney character? That would be amazing!
