So what do you think of the Sci Fi Academy pins?
I think last year the event was around $35-$40. I didnt attend myself but also wasnt last years three days?? Cuz I remember them having 2 night room packages as well.

i love the look of some of the star wars pins i would love the jumbo star tours pin and the character box set.if only i lived in the usa

Wow. Here are the ones that I like the best.

Item 2. Annual Passholder Mars and Beyond Collection
Item 11. Adventure Through Inner Space Poster
Item 12. Monorail Retro Poster
Item 13. Space Mountain Retro Poster
Item 16. (only a few) Penny Arcade: Rocket to the Moon, Rocketeer, and 20,000 Leagues
Item 35. Circuit Board Park Map

The Star Wars and Rebel Alliance Posters are cool, but the rest of the pins in those two sets don't appeal to me.

Does anyone know exactly what this means? The online information about this event says:

EARLY REGISTRATION:
The first 400 Guests who register for this event will receive ONE (1) limited edition early registration pin, while supplies last.

Does this mean that the 1st 400 who register for this event on Thursday, June 23rd, get a LE pin? Or the 1st 400 who "registered" online on March 1st? Was March 1st for "reservations" or "registration"? The online information says both for March 1st.

Usually this means, the first 400 people who registered online. As part of your event check-in, there will be a table with all the names in a book and then when you pick up your pin, you sign that you got it.

You will get an email telling you if you were one of the first 400, but probably not for a few days. It takes the computer awhile to figure it out for some reason...

I love the pins from this event! I agree there isn't a wide variety but there is finally some creativity! I sponsored someone that I hope will be able to complete the Atari set for me or will come close to it. Please if you get doubles, help him out. :)

I have a feeling these are going to be similar to the Trade City road signs

Thank you Sandy. Yesterday at 11:00 am (Pacific) I was at the dentist office, so I had to wait till I got home to register, cuz my cell phone doesn't run flash. I think I got registered by 11:30 am. It would be nice to be one of the 1st 400... :)

We're all about the TRON box set! We registered last night around 8pm pacific and I received the email this morning that I qualified for the early bird registration pin. Seems like the price and selection will keep some away. And just a side note, WDW Love event received a dessert buffet with their event! I love desserts!

Oh yea, and I'm a Mickey collector so I really want the Pixilated Mickey!

Wow, I'm actually kinda happy that there is not a single pin that I would be interested in. A nice break for my wallet :)

"In a follow up to yesterday's post, we have a small (and exciting) update about the Tron-inspired figurine. The figurine will be released at something we are calling "Sci-Fi Academy Alumni Weekends." Stay tuned for the details but know that there will be additional items released throughout the summer at Disneyland® Resort."

Did every one notice that there will be Sci-Fi Alumni weekends, where additional merchandise will be available, like the Tron Mickey on the light cycle figurine! I hope that attendees will get first priority on buying the additional merchandise as well as additional trading activities/boards.

Yeah, I got the email today that I qualify for the LE early registration pin. :)

Has anyone been to an event that had silent auctions? What kind of items do they auction?

Will they display the auction items on Thursday, June 23rd?

Steven Miller stopped being in charge of pins a while ago. He works in a different department.

Really?? Where to? I had heard a rumor a while back but never heard anything concrete...

Maybe that's why the Casey Jr Circus train cast lanyards are being produced later this year (one of Timm's final cast lanyard designs). And maybe that's why the Classic D Collection is actually really nice.

Thanks for the info too on Miller!

Using the Love Is Magical event as a guide, an auction catalog is posted a few weeks before the event. The actual silent auction items were labeled in display cases at the event. There were individual clipboards that held the actual silent auction sheet where you wrote your name and bid.
See the link below for the Love is Magical auction catalog: http://eventservices.disney.go.com/files/LoveisMagicalAuction.pdf

I fell in love with the Mechanical Kingdom and was surprised to see those pins. I'm going to have them and one or two more, but nothing really strikes me as that awesome. I'm waiting to go broke at the Alice non-event.
