urg..... have you ever had the horrible realization that the shipping of your pin costs more than what you paid for the pin???? Sometimes I hate living in Canada! The problem is, I accidentally bid on a pin that I had asked the seller how much the shipping was, and he said $6. In my crazy rush to bid for the pin, I bid on the wrong one (same pin) and this seller is charging me $50!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I paid $39 for the pin!!!!!!!!!! I sent a message to him, asking if it can be lowered, but I doubt he will. I dont want to pay THAT much money for the pin! I feel sick to my stomach..... Ive already spent too much $$$ on pins, and I feel gross about that :/
anyone else had this prob?
 
Contact eBay if he will not lower it for you. Excessive shipping is against eBay policies. I had a seller want to charge me $70 in shipping once from Irvine to Anaheim (less than a hour away). I contacted eBay and they worked it out for me.
 
Wow that does seem high. I sent a pin to Holland and it was only $6.00. How much does he charge to US? Maybe someone here can get the pin and then send to you.

It's always been expensive to ship to and from the UK.

As for shipping from the US to Canada, it shouldn't cost more than $6 unless you are using priority mail. However, that shouldn't be more than $20 for a pin.
 
$50 to Canada??? Is that a 12" x 12" 9-layered pin-on-pin in a frame?? Probably not.
Seriously, that's outrageous. I don't advocate screwing a seller but in this instance I would definitely go to www.usps.com and get an idea what it costs to ship that pin to Canada (just try and guess the weight to figure out a price) and then demand a reasonable shipping price. If the seller doesn't budge, don't pay. They're just taking advantage of you.

Ok, I may be wrong about the seller trying to take advantage of you but c'mon... $50? However I would send a message and ask the seller to clarify why they are charging so much for shipping.
 
Around the same price then. Postage has just gone up here too. I guess it isn't too bad since it costs about £1.20 or so to post a pin within the UK. Some of the postage on eBay is silly though! I found a watch I wanted which was expensive enough already and they had nearly $60 postage on it. No thanks!

$50 for shipping sounds a bit excessive. I am also from Canada and have to deal with high(er) shipping costs but most sellers I have dealt with from US only charge me anywhere from $5-$10 depending on the weight of the pin and how many I am getting. Some have even refunded me when they found out shipping was less then they initially quoted me for.

Like someone already said, be wary of the seller and ask he/she to explain to you why the shipping cost is so high.

I am in the minority, but $50 shipping to Canada doesn't seem excessive for the simple fact that, in order to be protected by the PayPal (aka ebay) seller protection policy, one must ship with tracking and delivery confirmation. It costs a lot to get tracking and delivery confirmation to any country.

So, unless you work it out with the ebay seller so that you don't pay as goods through ebay (that is, get his PayPal address and mark it as a "gift"), I think the seller will stick to his guns for $50 shipping.

Ok, update : I emailed the seller, and he said he screwed up on the shipping, but I can have cancel the purchase if I want. So I asked him to. Hasn't done it yet, but he said he would, so Im expecting that XD
Thanks for everyones advice :) Ive never had this prob before, but it sure is scary when shipping costs more than the purchase ;p I can live without the pin XD I have lots of Wreck it Ralph pins coming in, and thats what Im excited about :)
 
I buy from ebay all the time and I usually pay between $3.50 and $4.50 for shipping and handling of the first pin to Canada (yes, even since the postage increases). A few sellers charge $6 or $7. Any higher than that and I don't buy from them. I've occasionally asked a seller to look into the actual cost of shipping and been able to get the charge significantly reduced. I generally ask before I bid, but it can't hurt to try.
