UGH!!! What the heck??!!!
I was told at PO that any bubble wrap inside a large envelope (even if it bends length & width wise) doesn't qualify as a large envelope, since "lge envelopes have to go thru a machine" :(
Canada is no cheaper than other international: $6.55 for UP TO 2 ozs- whether Canada or Hong Kong- sigh

It always seems to come down to clerks who don't understand the rules. A "large envelope" is not required to be "machineable" (unlike a letter).

We got the same thing, too big, too thick, any excuse to not let us do it that way. As much as it might or might not (we do not know) be clerks following rules or not, we cannot force them to accept it as something they say it is not.

I guess I am fortunate that my local post office (which is very small and has not come into the 21st century, they have the old fashioned scale and they have to push buttons and they do not have a button for a small package, and no computers so as long as it is shipped in one of the small bubble envelopes (has to be the paper bubble mailers, plastic bubble mailers do not qualify) and is no more than 3/4" in thickness it gets mailed at letter rates, it is cheaper for me to ship a pin or two overseas than it is for me to ship them local, it costs $1.09 for the first ounce and $1.99 for 2 ounces. I never argue with them. all packages mailed from there do get scanned but it is by a hand held scanner with lots of buttons that she then has to plug into some system when she leaves work, when she scans something though it goes right through and shows up right away online.

It's a shame people are wanting to avoid international trades, it costs us just as much to send you your pin. You aren't bring seen off!
About the shirts, I only paid shipping. The shirts were free so I guess I can't complain too much.

What has made me laugh is when they anounced the disney dreams pins every one forgot about postage fees and the people who said they don't do international trading suddenly popped there heads in it really makes me laugh that us uk traders aren't moaning about the cost of sending international we have to pay just as much here in the uk for postage but we are not moaning about it

We are not moaning nor complaining and we still gladly trade with international members both here and on pin pics, it is just a comment on the HUGE increase in costs. We do not know how much it costs to send to the US but we heard its cheaper. It doesn't matter how much as when you agree to an online trade, you both agree to pay for shipping fees.

The only US posting method that has tracking from source to destination is International Express which is only a few dollars more than International Priority. I sent two LE50 framed pin sets to the UK and the nearly 7lbs package was too large (size wise) to qualify for 1st class postage, so I opted to use International Express ($72.55) vs International Priority (~$66) and Express did allow me to track to the destination. Of course, there was a customs charge of almost $50 because the total declared value + postage was ~$130 - but at least I knew the package arrived safely.

Postage both directions are very close to being the same now...

Ah thanks for clearing that up, we actually read that in a thread here, but as we mentioned, the cost doesnt matter, if you agree to an international trade both parties agree to the shipping costs as well. :).
We like international trading as they get pins we normally wouldnt be able to get and likewise for our pins.

I generally ship out multi pin packages so the shipping per pin isn't so bad...I am careful about total cost for customs (package value + shipping cost) - I generally use $4 per pin average (and mark as gift) so the receiver doesn't get slammed with 20% (or is it 25%?) + $12 processing fee (ouch) - I believe someone posted that the UK threshold is somewhere around $60 before a customs charge is assessed. I also describe the contents as "label pins" and not "Disney pins"

We do it as a gift too, but didnt know of the threshold, thought it was lower (40, not 60). Why 'lapel pins' and not Disney pins?

Is it $60? In another thread someone mentioned it was a lot lower.

thank you guys! I'm pleased you take this approach! Being a uk resident, 99% of my trading is overseas, mainly America, and to get decent pins I have no option but to trade internationally as I don't live near stores, parks or my form of venue or shop that e corporates pin trading, therefore have no choice but to pay the postage costs....I have to say after saying that, I don't really mind as like said, both parties are paying shipping costs when they agree to a trade. Not all my trades have been multi trades, and I have made so many lovely friends through trading internationally. :)

Although its the persons right to choose not to internationally ship/trade I do hope not everyone takes this approach....I for one would like to continue to trade overseas, it's fun, and you get some great pins....sadly if people choose not to trade overseas it will have a big impact on people like myself who have no option but to trade overseas....just food for thought.....thanks for reading.

I was asked to place an order for some UK pins quite a few times and one more so recently and they said the postage is to high, well Im international when disneystore.co.uk is concerned as Im in Ireland so postage is £6 for 1 or 10 pins and I explained that and they still said it was high but then asked me to order the Disney Dreams Tangled pin at cost without a thought to those two pins being MORE than the 2 pins they originally wanting.. the mind does boggle at times.

Ive been sending most of my pins I have made in trades or auctions or sales registered so I know they arrive safe and sound, I was never asked to do that and I never expect anyone in US to do that to me so I think people who want pins from France/UK or internationally should look at each trade individually and think before saying I am not trading PERIOD and then come and ask UKers for pins at cost or help as thats where us UKers have been hit hardest and with the Disney Dreams Tangled has seen it backfire on those who normally would get help from a few UKers to getting none at all from how they have posted regarding international trades.

I said this would happen in a thread somewhere. I myself have found trading to still be ok for me at least as I have made quite a few trades in the last month or so and I have not been told no I wont cause Im international. I even offered someone in my auction to ship inside the US and Im paying the $13 shipping fee to me as they were less than 10 feedback to help them out.

I have heard a saying somewhere - Help us, to help you. which is true help UKers out we will in kind help you in return XD

Its now a problem both ways we are paying £3.30 to ship a pin abroad. On saturday I did a big mail out and it cost me nearly $150 and I am not joking. Sadly I am begining to think that I am going to get out of on line trading for a while I do intend to turn y TA back on at some point and will still consider all trades but they will need to be multiple or something I really really want not just in passing. This is really sad as I have been in it from the start but its just too much money
