That's particularly concerning because those have pin-on-pin elements that pivot...we haven't generally seen scrappers/fakes of that type of pins.

I've just sent a message to the seller asking where he got pins that Disney won't be selling until the end of June.

What's the possibility that someone in the factory is grabbing one, two, or a few prior to the shipment going out and then the park(s) actually don't receive the number they are supposed to get. I mean who knows if the park(s) actually count in their inventory to see if they received all the pins they were supposed to get. If this is the case then they aren't technically scrappers or fakes. Just stolen.

Yup. Lots of Hong Kong sellers that somehow grab these scrapped or overruns of pins. The sad thing is, they probably look quite authentic.

Has to be scrapper overruns. No one fakes a pin-on-pin. So it's an overrun, a legit commissioned Disney pin. either didn't pass quality control, is a sample, or a production overrun. Not as bad as a fake. Although, the cast member pins from Fantasyland were faked and the paint was terrible and those were hinged. We may be seeing a new era in fake pins...

What could they do!?! They're expecting 250 pin sets but get 248. The public would never know. Sure Disney would have to take it up with the factory but by that point what's done is done.

How many are they selling? I've seen ebay user ice***y selling a lot of pins lately that look faked with bad paint but they usually only have 2 or 3 at most of any given pin. Making only that many is not cost effective. Hinged pins, stained glass, etc. All 1 or 2 at a time? I think they are samples or early early artist proofs to see if the die is working. Something like that. Why make a fake and make only 2 or 3? Maybe they stamp a few out and take them home to paint themselves? If the mold/stamps are done in one place and painting elsewhere it would explain a lot.

We need those sales to remain on Ebay, so that Pinpics mods can see them and post warnings.

The older ones must be counterfeits, possibly using stolen molds? I just doubt that the sellers would have the patience to hold on to scrappers for a couple of years before selling them. (I do occasionally wonder if Disney sometimes sells off an extra box or two of OE's over there, when they realize they have more than they need....it wouldn't be illegal.)

Really pathetic. Is it possible for Disney to send out warnings to their contractors that if any pins are sold directly, they will lose their contracts?

If you search "enchanted tiki pin" and then click the "completed listings", you can see several of the mystery pins having been listed from China (Mickey, Daisy, Chip & Dale, Goofy, and Donald). Doesn't seem like they sold, but they were listed...

I noticed this, too. I was curious to see if there were any pre-sales up already, because I REALLY want the mystery set. And I saw someone in China selling some of the pins. Bummer that they're even selling the LE50 chasers from the mystery set (I saw at least the one with Donald).

I noticed that they day that they released the Epcot 30th Reveal/Conceal, there were pins being sold from Hong Kong. So I would say that it would be overruns or ones that didn't meet standards for Disney that are being sold. Another possibility is that, they are getting a hold of the molds after the initial production run is completed to run some more to be sold on the secondary market.

Personally I think they are either overruns (or scrappers if you may) or stolen as there aren't THAT many of them out there. They seem to be a one-sie two-sie type thing.

This is my worry. Especially after seeing 2011 Sorcerer Hat pins. Someone might get hold of the molds and run unauthorized productions.

It is so funny actually. In the past, I have seen threads on Dizpins where Disney itself offered the old molds for the silent auctions during the September events. Wonder what happened to those molds now ?

Really irritated. I emailed the link to Disney and hopefully they can take steps to trace the seller and make sure they don't do this again.
