do you order and pay for the pins that are available at the event when you register, or is it a crap shoot when you go there and wait in an enormous line??? I haven't done an event like this before, so I need some education!

I believe you order the pins through a "random selection process" (rsp) when you register for the event. Then they'll notify you if you were selected to have the right to purchase those pins. Whether you prepay or pay at the event, I'm not sure.

You fill out an RSP, as the person above says. Basically, it's an online lottery system. Everyone who wants a pin puts in for it online (they'll give us the tools to do so sometime after we register).

After the time is up, they let the computer select, and we're told which pins we've been selected to purchase. We pay at the event, and receive them then.

Unless something is super rare or in high demand, you can usually expect to find it okayed on your RSP. :)

I thought you paid online before the event and when you get there you tell them your name and they bring your purchase to you already packaged up?

Mmmm, maybe? I seem to remember payment being due in August at some points. But it's, like, right before the event, and you definitely have a chance to return items. Yeah, you're right, I remember filling out my credit card online, and not whipping it out at the event unless I buy left-over stuff on Saturday.

Thanks for that!

Can you define "super rare" because with so many great sets being LE250, I don't know if that's too low of an LE size >_<

Erk. Well, don't quote me or anything...I shan't be held responsible. :)

In general, back during Florida Project and Trade City time, you could get just about anything from the RSP, including LE 50 sets. Mostly due to the huge prices.

Last year, though, a handful of things did sell out the first round, and some other stuff was gone by the 2nd and 3rd buying options. For those that don't know, each RSP is for a quantity of 1- so the 1st RSP would get you your first of that item, then we do a 2nd in case you want 2, and then a 3rd in case you want 3. A 4th is done at the event, in case they have left overs or returns. Things gradually sell down as we work through all the RSPs.

So anyway- a LE 100 and 250 are likely to be gone in the 1st RSP if the character/theme/design is popular. With the new interest in pins (we were a little decreased in 2008-2010), more things might sell out, or normally I'd say even the 250s might be left over...

But then again, considering the lack of variety and prices this year, maybe not.

Oooh thank you! I was so confused but after reading all the responses I was about to give in and just wait for directions on the rsp lol! Very helpful!!:like:

Do they send the results of round #1 before you fill out RSP #2, etc.?...or do you have to fill out all 3 RSP's at once?

You do them all at once, and the send all the results at the same time.

In previous years, I've done a RSP turtorial...would you guys like a nicely laid out, easy-to-read one for this year?

I can't do it tonight (going to Webster early tomorrow), but I could do one on Tuesday and put it up. If you're interested, ask whatever questions you can think of, or things you're unclear about, to make sure we cover everything.

I, personally, would be VERY grateful for that! This will be my 1st pin event, and I'm scared to death

It's my second and DH'd first (I will be filling out his RSP). I try and get keepers, so I order them by what I want most. There is only 1 with a cat this years, so I'll probably get some for trading. I also love the mystery sets,so I'll get the max on those on both RSP

First you sign up and pay for the event. You will receive an e-mail confirming your registration.
The date for submitting the RSP will be communicated. That date will be later on, not when you register for the event.
After you submit your RSP, at some later date they will communicate to you which items you have won. They will give you another date to contact them to take off any items you decide you dont want.
There will also be a date where they tell you when your credt card will be charged (after the previous date to take things off).
You bring your ID with you to the event. Check in then pick up your merchandise.
Did that help answer any questions?
