how to get started on pin collecting, help please
Thank you everyone, I feel so welcome :-) I wasn't sure how many uk people were on here so I'm pleased there is loads!

My favourite characters are Jasmine, Belle, Periwinkle and Marie so I will look into maybe picking 2 of those once I've seen what's available. I'm very excited hehe.

Oh yes and princess jasmine where abouts are you from? I'm in Newcastle so lucky as I have metro centre and sunderland stores near by for my other merch.
Xx

Woo another peri fan i love the 2 sisters so much im a tink princesses and fab 5 collector at the moment i never knew about pin trading until i went to DLP and i saw loads of pins and it took me 2 months after my trip to finally decide to join the huge loving DPF family i started off with tinkerbell and belle and since then my collection has grown in the 2 months ive been a pin trader and when im back out in DLP im hoping to bring alot more pins home with me so welcome to our pin world we are all here to help you in any way possible

Welcome! I know I'm a little late in saying that as this has been up for a few days, but welcome anyway! I'm a newbie from the UK too :).

If you're looking for affordable pins, I discovered earthbound's shop yesterday via a link tucked away in the news thread. I don't think I'm allowed to put the url here but if any UKers want it, just PM me :). I was so pleased to find somewhere selling nice pins for reasonable prices, based in the UK. There isn't a huge selection but I think it's still pretty good for those of us just starting out. The Disney store website can make things very pricey, with their postage costs and the fact that they never seem to have any reduced price pins!

Anyway, welcome to the forum and the hobby, I'm sure you're going to enjoy yourself :)

Thank you, I will pm you for the link, its nice to see I'm not the only one starting out
xoxo

Thank you so much, Peri is gorgeous! I have a doll of her and I think its my faveourite disney purchase of last year :-) going to try and find a pin of her

Hello lovely!

I'm also in the UK, Milton Keynes to be precise. If you wanted to start collecting Marie there is a beautiful Marie on the disneystore.co.uk website for only £6, it's a Disneyland Paris one from the set "cats and dogs" I have it in my collection and I love it. I'm a Brave and Figaro collector (along with lots of other random things) so if you ever need any advice just give me a shout. Hannah Montana is a great choice for your first collection because she will be fairly easy to collect. I also collect Johnny Depp pins and I've found him to be fairly easy :)
You will get a heck of a lot of support from everyone here, we all help each other out a lot and there really are some fantastic people on this forum. If you ever get a chance to pop into the chat room when people are in there it's a great way to get to know some of the folks around here, I'm in there a lot!
So anyway, welcome to the boards, hope to trade with you soon!

-Charlie

Thank you!!
I have found some Hannah Montana pins on ebay, quite cheap as well. I can't believe that the disney online shop the postage is almost as much as the pin though. I fancy the Marie and Jewel Jasmine on there I was going to orfer the other day but I was waiting for my voucher from my wreck it ralph bundle. X

:lgm:Metro centre is great didn't think to check for pins, maybe next time I'm back up there (love the North East it's my 3rd home, Londoner here ).

Be sure to check out Pin Guides & FAQs and Pin Comparison. Beware of Hidden Mickeys and check PinPics for any warnings, if you have any doubts about a pin you have received people are very helpful in Pin Comparison. This is really useful especially if you are tempted to buy other than direct from Disney, make sure you are getting a genuine pin!

Keep a look out for DS UK discount codes online, although some pins are excluded from these offers and usually LE pins on day of release have delivery discount too :)

Even though I had collected pins during childhood I only got back into pins/set up on PinPics last December with help from a few folks in Chat and made my first trade this year! We're always happy to help with questions when we can :)
