Looks like it's safe to say that DSF will be using this method from now on. Unless something drastic makes it change.

The monsters u instructions are below

I like it. No more overnight stays, no more changing amounts of wristbands given out at different times - everybody gets an equal chance with a known amount of time invested.

I think they are tired of people lining up 1-2 day(s) in advance. This might help prevent people who think if they come super early they will be #1 in line. They could be waiting there all day and draw the #200 voucher out of the bag. I sure as heck don't want to waste a whole day in hopes I get within the first 150.

The big change is that ALL guests in line will get wristbanded, leaving no reason to get there way before 7:30 and be in the first 200 or whatever

I actually was very happy with this plan last time. It makes cutting in line, and/or camping out overnight less of a benefit. In fact last time, Someone who I saw cut in line before the hand outs... got a high number and didnt get any pins. lol

since this is a friday morning release, i cannot attend, but this plan makes it a much more "fair" plan IMHO.

Seriously? I was planning to show up at 10 am, thinking the line would be done (well, at least for the first 150 people wanting full sets) so I could go get me a marquee (or two). But now, I gotta go get a wristband? :p

I think the true test will come when there is a big release. Maybe another Beloved Tales or some sort of Tangled and Up release. When EVERYONE wants the pins, then we will see how effective this new plan is. I don't see a lot of people going out of their way for a Monsters U pin but when the time comes for a huge release, then we will see the holes (if any) in this new procedure.

I think it's great...even though I'll probably never be at a release.

This is finally a step in the right direction for crowd control, in my opinion. Everybody here knows that I've been advocating a lottery system, since it is apparent DSF is very reluctant to up the LE sizes, and this is really the most fair way of doing these releases and achieving the goal of no camping, while retaining that too low LE size.

The crowds are too large and have been too large for a majority of these releases. They have narrowly escaped riots. This needed to happen.

Who knows, maybe it could bring more crowds. Heck, if I don't have to line up for 3 days and all I have to do is show up at 7:30am for a chance at highly wanted pins, I'll do it in a heart beat. I'll be more willing to show up to the lottery than to a 3 day campout. This could also mean that more people will be taking friends and family to try and secure a spot in the lottery.

Yeah all the lines and craziness have been bad but on a much lighter and optimistic note, all this growing attention is good for the hobby. The more the merrier and as we get more traders and collectors, the demand will keep rising and we'll be getting better and better pins from disney. I must say, seeing a sea of people line up for a pin can only mean these little pieces of metal we love so much are exploding in popularity and I couldn't be more happy.

Consistent large crowds might be the only thing that would put the gleam of pure gold in DSF's eyes and actually have them up the LE sizes. What better way to demonstrate the popularity of your product than to have continuous large crowds?

While there might be a lot of disappointed people or people who will better their chances by bringing loads of friends and family, does it not introduce a ton more people to the hobby? Time will tell if people view this as good or bad. They really needed to do something and this full blown lottery is the most feasible solution they should have implemented long ago. Glad to see it arrive; late as it may be.

@DRB195

Yes. It is a full blown lottery and not like the previous one, which was a limited lottery. This version should work out much better, as the need to campout has been liquidated. Now it's all up to luck and numbers in your group. So, while it is more fair to those who must go to work and don't have a ton of free time, it still may turn out that those people still get nothing. But it is far better than being out of the game by Wednesday or Thursday.

I like this way much better than having people line up days in advance. Personally, I would much rather miss out on a pin because I wasn't lucky enough to get a voucher from a lottery system than because I couldn't camp out for 24 hours or make two trips to get a wristband. If I was anywhere close to DSF I would absolutely be there at 7:30am. I love Mike and Sulley and the Monsters U pins are great.

I look forward to seeing how this plays out, though. I do appreciate that DSF keeps trying new systems and hopefully they will be able to get one that fits their needs but also benefits the pin collectors and traders, as well.

I am going to be texting at 730 am and ask whether all 250 are there, okay?! :)

You don't need to be within the first 250 to be able to get the pins. They will give out wristbands to everyone there and then distribute vouchers randomizing from 1-however many people are there. You just want to get a voucher in the within the first 250 to guarantee that you'll be able to get your marquees.

Finally they get it. This should go smooth and be a perfect test run before the next crazy release. Kudos to DSF.
