Getting Real About the Designer Couples Set
Next set, next year, part 2: Cinderella and her prince, Tiana and her prince, aurora and her prince, and possible runner ups: Hercules and Meg, Phoebus and Esmeralda, Ellie and Carl, Wendy and Peter. Random couples I know, but it's kinda interesting they left off other couples in this set.....dun dun dun!!!

Just sold my set for $1000.

Supply and demand people. I know you all want it to get cheaper, but look how many people want this set! If people will pay $1000, then prices will stay high.

And that's why I'll never own the Ariel and Eric pin. I'm not willing to pay some large amount for a pin and I know that means I'll probably never own any of the pins on my most wanted list, but I'm okay with that.

Before I wished that they included Tiana and Naveen, but now I'm glad they didn't. Maybe I should start saving up now so just in case they release them next year I can buy the dolls and the pin and hope I get lucky with getting them at retail

On the one hand, I want to hold out hope that the prices will go down. On the other hand, I did that for the DPs and they didn't. :P

Hmm, would anyone trade 5 DPs for a set of these?

Yeah, I know...my point is WHY? Have people lost their damn minds? It usually takes pins YEARS to get up to $300 each. If people would just stop panic buying them, they would get them.

As someone who has been around the block, I can tell them all...you WILL get your pins, and usually, at a much cheaper price!

I'm also disturbed at some of the stories I hear out of California regarding how people act when acquiring these pins. I hate rewarding bad behavior.

Like I said, I'll be waiting. And as long as you were one of the orderly citizens, I have no problem congratulating you on your good sale. I still think your buyers are out of their damned minds, but congrats! Like you said, supply and demand, man. If people will pay it, I don't have an issue with the selling of it.

My hope is that the series continues, perhaps next year they will do the other princesses. like Tiana, Aurora, Merida, Mulan...

There is so much room to continue the designer series pins.

Agreed. This series is one of my favorite that Disney has ever done. I kind of ignored the villains, because I don't collect them, but still, they were very well done. I'm pretty happy with it overall- I just hope they don't get lazy in an effort to crank out more and get sloppy with art or quality control.

Honestly I think they should just keep doing the same princesses but feature different designers. Rotate the 13? princesses they have now and just keep it going. Princesses for D23, villains for the off year. Just up the edition size and only let sorcerer package people have 1 shot at them. Or maybe work out a lottery system for show attendee's.

I think a large portion of the people that have the pins are still in California on vacation, and when they get home this/next week they will start listing the 2-4 they have. I think a lot of the people that bought them don't actually want/collect them in the end and they will enter circulation over the next few weeks, and hopefully those that panic will have removed themselves from the buyer pool by already paying a large amount, leaving the next to come to sale to be listed a little bit lower to sell.

I haven't been collecting pins long enough to know how values change, but it seems like it would have been better to buy the first designer princesses early on rather than waiting. Now that set seems much higher.

I'm surprised by the lack of broken sets thus far, but I understand since it is such a nice set people would want them all.

I really like the display of these pins. It is really beautiful and they chose the right background colors to accent the pins. I can see wanting to keep sets together.

should have the scrappers in hand by nov. so for all the people that don't get some. let me know. Half off for friends... very fair price of $500 a set. I love E-bay!!!

Thanks for the heads up. Always good to put another name on the black list. I would never deal with you. Like most im sure you like a good deal but will b first inline to make a buck. sad but again thank you for telling us what you are all about. :nono:

I for one hope they continue to offer the Designer series. But I would like to see them take it away from D23 and make it online only. At least that way everyone has a fair shot at them. I miss the days of getting up at 3 AM on Monday to see what Disney Shopping had in store for us. I bought a ton of sets and now I have some nice LE 100 pins to trade. I wish those days would return and then we could listen to everyone complain that their system crashed and they got a cancellation notice and that it's just not fair. But at least we would all have a chance at them.

I would also love something like that occur but sadly, as evidence with the parks, DSF, and Disney's track record, as long as Disney sells the sets, they don't care to which demographic or group it is too so I doubt we'll see a drastic change in how Disney supplies pins.

Truth! They have plausible deniability ("we don't control re-sellers"), which is very valid. But they DO control the initial sale.

Next years set looks great and it will be through Disneystore.com at least you have that hope to go off of. It is after all a yearly series

So I really can't stop thinking about the Ariel/Eric pin so started scoping ebay. Any ideas of what a reasonable price for the Ariel/Eric pin would be? And if they're on ebay - they're real right? There hasn't been enough time to make fake ones? Thanks in advance for the input.
