Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend?

I know I've seen pins from Half Marathons but I personally know very little about them, here's an example:

Based on what I've seen on ebay there seems to be three of four for this weekend. Nothing yet from the pin traders on pinpics and I heard the event store at the expo was a zoo. I'm hoping they show up where we can see them soon.

They released 4 pins this weekend- one for the 5k/10k/half/dumbo all are limited release but heard most have sold out-

IF anyone can pick me up a Dooney & Bourke bag from the marathon please let me know!

As mentioned, the only pins I know of that were released were the 1/2, 10k, 5k, and Dumbo pins. I snagged a 1/2 for myself (since I'm running it) and a 10k and 5k pin (which were based on AiW and were quite nice) for Jabberwocky but nothing else. They are limited release and from what usually happens, they sell out by the time marathon weekend is over >_< Nothing to pricey on eBay though afterwards...

And your help was much appreciated kupo1121! :)

But I'll say it again - STAY HYDRATED for your race! :D

Did you run this event Tormentor? I'm schedule to run in the January half-marathon and trying to see what my wife got me into. Thanks either way.

I've been wanting to run in the marathon for the past 3 years but I always miss the registration. I think I might try for the january one. I was just wondering if the pins are a part of the grab bags/prizes/medal they give you at the end or if you had to buy them at the event. I guess that they have to be bought at the event.

Yeah, the Disney races fill up VERY quickly. Any new races sell out within hours or days the year they are introduced (probably due to the novelty). I would definitely watch the races page (of whatever race you want to sign up for) and it will tell you the day it goes online. From what I've learned, sign up THAT day. If not, it will more than likely sell out. The only race that doesn't sell out immediately is the WDW Full Marathon since that one has room for over 20,000 participants, but any race that only has 10,000 or 15,000 participants fills up fast!

I'm participating in all 4 of the races in January so I'm excited, let me know if you're doing it, I like knowing I'm racing with people I know!

As for the pins, the way it works (from what I've found) is that there are generally 2 types of pins: commemorative pins and medal pins.

The commemorative pins you have to pre-buy online either when you register for the event or anytime afterwards. After you buy them, when you go on race day to pick up your packet which is a pamphlet of information and your race bib (which you wear during the race) they will give you the pin IF you pre-bought it (if you don't pre-buy it, you can't buy it there). There is also a stand to buy just pins if you pre-bought pins after registering.

The medal pins I only saw at the WDW marathon weekend (which is much bigger) and they are pins of the medals you can get that weekend. They are just on racks that people can pick out and after they sell out are gone for good.

Have fun with whatever race you choose and keep me updated :) I can also let you know when registration goes online if you want, I definitely plan on registering for the Dumbo Dare next August at DLR.

everyone still has time to sign up for the CHOC walk. Team Disney Pin Forum needs your help!!! Sign up to walk or you can donate to the team. Thank you

Did anyone get an extra 1/2 Marathon pin? I was able to pick up the 10K and Dumbo Double, but no 1/2. Was my first 1/2 marathon so I'm hoping to get one.

I didn't get extras of the pins but thought they were very well done this year :)

I ran Dumbo and survived- Getting an Upper respiratory infection 2 days before the race didnt help and add some nasty blisters Im glad to just have finished upright..

Ah! I'm so sorry disUSCney >_< I didn't think of ordering another 1/2 pin. IDK why, you can probably find it on eBay though :) I know most people who order them are the ones running the race (since you have to run to order pins) so they keep them for keepsakes...you'll be able to find one though, these pins don't ever go for ridiculous prices which is a great thing!

I did the half! It was amazing and HOT!!! I got the 1/2 pin and the 5k pin by accident! Anyone want to trade for the aiw 5k pin?

TELL ME ABOUT IT! I've never done the 1/2 in DLR before but from what I heard, this was the hottest one in many years. Talk about a bad year to try my first 1/2 marathon in CA <_< Still, I'll be back for the Dumbo next year. I'm doing the Dopey in January and if I do the Dumbo in CA, that's a total of 6 races and 10 medals!!! WHEEEE!!! If you guys are running future races, LET ME KNOW!!! I love running with friends ^_^

haha I would have been glad to have even woken up that morning O_o I'm super jealous of you getting into the Dumbo race, it sold out the day of and I missed the sign up by like 2 hours since I was stuck in class and I had the odd mentality of "2 hours isn't long and it can wait." Boy was I wrong -__- I'll be doing the Dumbo next year so let me know how it went!!!!

do u like to walk with friends also? There is a DPF walk team for the CHOC walk. Its another event that takes place at the park and yes you can get a pin and a medal. Lots of time still to sign up. We need all the help we can get. People that cant make the walk can still help the kids by donating to our team. All the money we raise will go to help kids that can not afford the treatments they need to better there life and many times to keep them alive. Thank you to everyone that has helped so far. Come on DPF... we need all of your help on this one!!!
