2013 Fairytale Designer Collection
I doubt this would happen as we have already gotten princess's and villains but how cool would it be to have Jafar with Jasmine in red or Cinderella and tremaine! I think if they do another collection it will be something that they can include Anna, Elsa and Merida in!

I have seen several people say online who work for Disney that their managers have been told that Disney will continue the Fairytale collection. This hasn't been confirmed by Disney, but I wouldn't be surprised if they did. A lot of the more popular couples were used this year, but a lot of people complained on FB about the other couples not being made, particularly Cinderella & Charming and Aurora & Phillip. Plus with Frozen being released this year, there could potentially be one or two new couples that could be used since Frozen has Anna and Elsa as well as Hans and Kristoff. As a result one or two of the less popular couples of the potential five couples (Cinderella & Charming, Aurora & Phillip, Pocahontas & John Smith, Mulan & Shang, and Tiana & Naveen) could get the boot to strengthen the collection.

Unpopular opinion, but I would love to have the other princesses.I would definitely buy Cinderella, Aurora, Tiana and Pocahontas (but only if she is with Smith ofcourse...). If they replaced Mulan with Anna or Elsa, I'd buy the whole set.

I would be disappointed too if they don't do the other princesses . For me it would feel like the collection is not complete . I would definitely buy Aurore, Tiana and Cinderella

Those pictures are fantastic thank you for posting!
I really want to see some outfit swaps between the DDPC and the DFDC dolls

like Designer princess snow switches outfits with designer fairytale snow
and designer princess rapunzel switches outfits with designer fairytale rapunzel
and the same for belle who will look gorgeous in either outfit. i really want to see DFC belle in DPC outfit.

not sure how ariel would look with the outfit chage

and jasmine maybe but not sure if the headwear would throw it off.

someone should do this soon

I can't wait to see belle when she comes out and i'm actually excited for jasmine

I like that idea a lot. Or, how about less couples next year and spread what remains over two years? That would be more wallet friendly! 3 one year and four the next? Or if they could think of a way to slot Merida in, 4 and 4.

I honestly wonder why some people are ignoring Jasmine... just because she's Asian?

Hardly anyone has been discussing her on here, and personally, I think she is one of the best in this collection.

I don't think many of us think of her as Asian; Disney has tried to put a princess in every culture - which means the Asian princess is Mulan. The middle eastern princess is Jasmine....whom I love. I just think of the ones released in this collection, sadly she won't be among the most popular, but that makes me happy because there's a better chance I can bring her home without worry! :)

I personally hope they give us the other princesses next year as that's all I collect and would LOVE to see how they'd do them! I've already begged Disney to give us Aurora in blue and Cinderella in silver ;) wouldn't that be fantastic?! But seeing as they put Ariel in blue and not pink, we know ol' Briar Rose will get stuck in pink again :(

I kinda hope they don't continue this collection next year. Yes, I'd love to see the other princesses with their men, but the price point really threw me off. I'd rather see some of the well-loved-yet-rarely-dolled characters next year like Alice, Megara, Wendy, Kida (I know, it's a long shot), Esmeralda, etc. packaged by themselves - Designer Series or not. My biggest (and probably most impossible) LE doll dream is Peter Pan with a mini Tinkerbell - wouldn't mind him in a set with Wendy or Tiger Lily either! But alas, the Peter Pan merch season is done, so I highly doubt that will ever happen.

As for people 'not liking Jasmine', it's not about race at all for me. I love that Middle Eastern princess! All the girls are beautiful in this series, but I find some prettier than others - it's called personal preference. And since I was thinking to get maybe one, max two from this line, I had to prioritize. Haha, in the end I ended up just getting the mugs and two journals and skipping out on the dolls. Also, Jasmine's the one my younger sister's been drooling over since I showed her the promo pics, but again, the price point is just way too high.

I truly think Jasmine will be the slowest seller of the bunch; she and Al may still be around when Belle and Beast come out!
I agree, I think Jasmine will be the slowest seller. I'm not a huge fan of the movie, which is why I wouldn't buy that set. I have limited money to spend right now, so I cant buy them all. Belle is my favorite movie/princess but Im not buying her to 1) Save money and 2)Im not a huge fan of this particular doll set.

I love the idea of them continuing this next year because I would love to have Cinderella and Aurora. I do love the idea of a Heroines set with the ones that are popular but not in couples like Merida, etc. I really think this will happen, as Im seeing a lot of people talking about this.

I want Them to do a pink and blue dress. Something mid transform but not splotchy. It would be amazing!

I want more dolls in this line because I like the style so very much. I really want Aurora and Philip most of all. They should have been included this year if they are not going to be out next year. Same with Cindy and Tiana.

As for Jasmine, I see her as Arabian and not generic Asian. I know Asia is a big continent, but I've always seen the different countries as being distinct.

What does everyone think will happen to the princesss line? I mean they can't just keep adding new princess's without taking some out or we will end up with a huge princess line up, which surely is harder to market? I liked the line more smaller but with Merida and Anna/ elsa it's getting crowded lol does anyone agree? I think(even though I love her and her movie) they should take Mulan out. I think it would be cool for disney to market a line which is just princess's and then a heroine line including Mulan, meg etc and do a designer collection on this.

They will keep them as princesses but will maybe just use certain ones more often. The less popular will be less used. Do you think Merida is popular enough to stay in the spotlight? Obviously Rapunzel was, but Merida I don't have a good feel of.

I love brave and Merida but because she doesn't sing, have a prince and is from Pixar I never thought she should be in the princess line up. I don't think she's as popular as Rapunzel I think after the uproar over her redesign she's a little hard to market. It wouldn't surprise me if they took her out and added Anna instead. Merida just isn't a girly character, just like Pocahontas, Mulan and when ever I see their redesigns or dolls or any future designer dolls of them all sparkly and girly it doesn't suit them, that's why I think they would be better in a heroine line.

I see some of the less popular gals just getting dropped. Its sad but true that Disney doesn't market their POC princesses the same. I don't know if that is due to popularity or not. I suspect we will see Mulan, Pocahontas, Tiana, and Merida all leave the line if not officially then through frequent omission. Jasmine seems to be the most popular of the POC princesses, but I do often feel frustrated that Disney is now representing her as Indian instead of Middle Eastern.

Haha would you be willing to get a mug for me if they still had them? I'm planning on getting the dolls so having the mug would be perfect - I'll pay costs and shipping of course :D

What mug are you looking for? I've got an Ariel and Rapunzel ones that I want to sell.

It saddens me a lot that Mulan is getting so excluded along with Pocahontas. Mulan is my favorite princess, and it sucks big time that there isn't much stuff of her to collect in contrast to the others. I really want Fairytale Designer Couples to continue on summer of 2014, but I'm fearing that they might replace Mulan and Pocahontas with Anna and Elsa :/ .

edit: It wouldn't surprise me that at one point they will stop marketing Mulan and Pocahontas. And years later they'll get rid of Tiana and Merida.

I have faith in Disney, and hopefully since next year isn't a D23 year, maybe they will do something like a Heroine line? Gosh knows that we've all been posting about it for long enough... isn't there a marketing researcher who is bound to stumble upon this thread? My theory is this: They do princesses on D23 years in order to give us the LE D23 exclusive set (Silver Cinderella, Golden Snow White, etc...) and in the off years do sets with other female Disney characters. At least, in a perfect world, that is what I would want. That allows next year to be open for a non-princess set (maybe the heroines? I'd LOVE to see Meg, Esmeralda, Merida, and although we don't know much about them yet, perhaps Anna and Elsa would fit more in a Heroine line then just a princess line?) and then the year after do the remaining couples of the original ten. Although people argue that it would not be wise for Disney to do couples for Pocahontas/ Mulan since they're not quite as feminine or ever thought of really as being a love interest in the film... has that ever stopped them before? Ask me three years ago when they announced the Princess line if they were going to include Mulan and Pocahontas in it, I probably would have laughed. Although they might not be as popular, that hasn't stopped Disney from doing them in the past, right? And they sold them, did they not? This is just my theory!

Tiana will never be dropped from the line up. She is an incredibly popular princess and there would be a huge uproar over that. Mulan and Pocahontas may one day be dropped from the lineup but there would be an uproar over that, just not as huge of one. Jasmine and Tiana will always be in the line up. They are incredibly popular but Disney does not market them. Disney doesn't market their POC princesses the way they do the white princesses. It is really sad and heartbreaking. They really dropped the ball with them. Once their respective movies were out, they stopped marketing them. Tiana, Jasmine, Mulan, and Pocahontas have as much merch combined as some of the more popular white princesses (Ariel and Belle come to mind). There is a fanbase for the princesses of color but Disney just ignores them. It is heartbreaking.

If Disney does continue with the fairytale collection my guess is Tiana will be the only POC princess in the line up. They will probably do Cinderella/Charming, Aurora/Phillip, Tiana/Naveen, and the couples from Frozen (assuming the movie does well).

I honestly can't see Disney dropping any of the princesses. We all saw the backlash with Merida's re-design. Could you imagine if they dropped any of the princesses? Especially any of the ladies of color. There would be backlash of epic proportions. Pocahontas and Mulan are both pretty popular despite their lack of attention from Disney. Everyone I know who loves Disney loves them and often says they deserve more attention. I honestly don't understand why Disney even bothers having them in the franchise at all if they don't really utilize them. Yeah they're not as "girly" as Cindy, Belle or Ariel but they could market them to the more athletic/tomboy-ish girls. It just seems like a waste of great characters.

I've also noticed Merida isn't getting the attention that Rapunzel and Tiana received when they were first added to the line up. I remember those two were all over the place when they were first introduced officially. But Merida not so much. It is most likely due to her re-design scandal. And maybe she isn't as popular as Disney thought?

I would love to hear what people think on this - but I just don't see a lot of Tiana merch from Disney ever since Tangled. Is she popular and Disney isn't using her? or does she have a strong core fanbase and not as much mass appeal? Personally I wan't a fan of the film, I found it a little too dark for my tastes.

It would be cool if they released Set 2 at the next D23 in 2015 and the convention exclusive was Aurora in blue. That would make sense, all the exclusives would then be the first three original princesses.

Personally I didn't find The Princess and the Frog to be any darker than some of the golden era films. In fact that was why I loved it so much - I felt like it was a return to that wonderful Classic Disney. I get a lot of hate for this, but that was my biggest issue with Tangled. It was just way too light-hearted for me.

I really don't see Pocahontas or Mulan being cut from the second half of this collection - I worry about it, but I don't sincerely expect it. Can you imagine the bad press about cutting out two POC princesses for two white ones? I really do expect to see Mulan and Pocahontas - however I think it would have been smarter to have one of them in this set (or Tiana) - putting all of the POC princesses (aside from Jasmine) into one set is like a scapegoat. If for some reason the second set doesn't do as well I could totally see that as being someone's excuse as to why.

Here's the way that I see things going with the remaining princesses:

-Cinderella in her ball gown with the prince, since it's the only time she's been with them other than the wedding.
-Aurora: they could use 2 scenes. Either Briar rose or the ending when she's wearing the blue dress.
-Pocahontas: Signature one... but I wonder if she's gonna be with John smith or the other guy.
-Mulan: The camp workout outfit or the blue dress she wears in the ending.
-Tiana: The ending outfit fits well. (not wedding one)

It would be interesting for Disney to release another line next year, not the rest of the couples. But the year later release the rest at D23.
