Well my other half has contacted me and said they tried to pawn him off with the one on display as they only had one out. When trying to back the second one this afternoon. He said no and they brought out about 5 or 6 going back to the stock room more than once . He said they were not happy about doing it which made the situation worse. Anyhow after looking through them all and even he is not obsessive as me said nearly everyone had messy hair loose stitching and which would I prefer out of the two I can live with. So I said asking as long is the hair is fine. So he picked one out of the two he thought was best! Now I stressing until I get home hoping its a good pick .
I understand wanting your set to look great, I do, but I don't think you're going to find one that is 100% perfect, no matter where you look. Maybe I'm not picky enough, who knows...best of luck to you though!

The 2011 Designer Snow White doll was also LE 6000. She sold out at record speed back then, because there was an apparent glitch in the online ordering system that did not limit the number of dolls per order as it should have been (it was limit 2 dolls per order at that time). So, yeah, a lot of sharks seem to have gobbled up a lot of the Designer Snow White dolls, which is reflective in her still relatively-low reselling price on ebay. A few factors that may have affected DFDC Snow White & The Prince's non-instant sell-out probably include: DFDC Snow White's braid does not appeal to the consumer, More people may be after the D23 Expo exclusive version, The price of the doll, among other reasons. I consider a sell out in two weeks to still be very successful for a higher-priced collectible at LE 6000. The retail stores still having stock in the USA may be due to bad projections of the target consumers in any given area or just that the remaining dolls may have glaring quality issues (and there seems to be quite a few of those out there).

As for the new location having 17" LE Ariel doll pre-orders, there may have been online order cancellations since the online sell-out, which opens the opportunity for there to be an allocation of dolls to that site. Also, I am sure that even when DS.com "sells out" they still keep some stock back to deal with quality control complaints (re: 17" LE Cinderella's shoes-DS customer service often offered a doll swap first for reported dolls with stained shoes even though 17" LE Cinderella was technically sold out).

Actually on Snow White you could only do 2 per order not household/person so people placed multiple orders of 2 over and over again that's why they changed the rules for the next 5 dolls.

Oh, I thought from your post back during that troubling time that people were plunking multiple pairs of Designer Snow Whites in their carts on each order (so for example for 10 dolls in one order, they had 5 entries of 2 Designer Snow White dolls in one order), which rapidly depleted the inventory. That many dolls selling out in only little more than an hour time span just seems awfully quick for a LE 6000 doll.

I swiped this post from page 35 of the closed Designer Princess thread back in 2011:

online it's 2 per order but there was a glitch with snow white and there wasn't a stop and people could add as many as they wanted in quantities of 2 on 1 order

I hope you managed to get one in the end that looked good! For £100 you would expect better QC! I went to my store today and they still had 8 Snow whites and about 5 Rapunzels! I have ordered all my dolls online and thankfully everyone has never had any issues with QC! I keep looking at Rapunzel as she is so beautiful

I was going back and forth about getting these. I really only want(ed) Rapunzel/Flynn, Belle/Beast and Ariel/Eric.

I'm new to the doll collecting and also trying to get those three Designer Princess dolls (helllloooo price inflation on ebay). I decided to break down and get Rapunzel today, my DS was sold out but I got her online luckily. I dont want to miss out on these, and I know I would regret not gettting them when they came out at their retail price, instead of paying double/triple on ebay in a year or so.

Im iffy about Belle even though she is one of my faves, but I already have three versions of Belle in that yellow dress. I wish they would have done a more detailed, embroidered dress like the others (or something to make her look more special). I'm also not a huge fan of the beast like that either. So we will see if I get her or not. But Rapunzel was too beautiful looking to pass up, and I MUST have Ariel as she is my favorite. Even if I have to stay up and get her online.

Pupuce - I love that you deboxed them and the pictures are so nice looking.

I think the set would have looked amazing with Belle in an embellished embroidered version of the rose dress she wears in the snow and sits next to Beast in during a fireplace scene. It would have really looked amazing. Ariel didn't get placed in her ballgown, so Belle didn't have to be either. Although I guess you can argue that Ariel's blue dress is more recognizable than Belle's rose dress (or green library dress). I am glad they did not make a fancy version of Belle's blue dress because most of the time she is with Beast and doing happy things together with him, she is wearing either the rose, green, or gold dress.

Exactly!! I just don't think the Belle doll looks special enough like the others do.

I'm probably in the minority too, but I think the Princes all look very handsome, and I almost wish they would have had Beast in his human Prince form instead of that weird molded face.

Belle is my absolute favorite, tied with Ariel of course, but even I didn't like her at first. However, I went in store and saw the actual doll and fell in love.

I agree, I actually like how most of the princes look... Flynn is pretty bad, but it is amazing how much friendlier he looks just by turning his head slightly.

Originally, this was my order of needs for this set: Ariel, Rapunzel, Belle, Snow, and Jasmine.

Now that I've seen them all in person though, it has turned into this: Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Snow, and Rapunzel. I am not a big fan of Snow or Jasmine, but they look so pretty in person. To me, Belle and Beast have the most interesting appeal to them, because it is not often we get Beast in doll form. He actually looks wonderful in person.

I'm still trying (rather unsuccessfully, I might add...) to collect the original designer dolls too. So far, I've only gotten my claws on Aurora and Rapunzel for decent prices... sigh. Here's to hoping these sets might effect the secondary market enough to bring some of the originals down.

Does anyone know if the journals are limited edition also? Because I asked a cast member at my store, and she said they were. But I didn't see a limited edition thing on it, like the lithograph set has. Can anyone confirm this please?

I didn't think they were, but I also don't think they last forever. Sort of like they produce a bunch until they decide to stop but there isn't a set limit. Maybe someone else knows better.

I don't think the journals are limited edition, but if you have intentions of collecting them, i wouldn't wait.

They are limited release, not limited edition. Once Disney runs out of the journals they wont be making more but they don't have a specific number of them made.

I am so glad I ordered the Snow White set when I did! She arrived yesterday and is so gorgeous! And the prince looks so handsome in person. All pictures of the Rapunzel/Flynn set look great! So many talented photographers. I'm glad things are going smoothly so far. Hopefully, knock on wood, this trend continues!

Also has anyone else tried ordering the Ariel/Eric mug? It popped back up online and I've tried adding it to my bag but it keeps saying this product is not available at this time. Ughhhh haha :3

It's probably sold out again, but you can try calling some stores! Mine still had about 6 in stock when i went last tuesday.

I'm glad you were able to get a good set. I can only imagine how stressful that was. Hopefully that will not happen to you again.

I know, Im thinking that Belle might look better in person? I haven't seen them all except for pictures. I got Designer Rapunzel at a decent price on ebay. I really want Belle and Ariel now but they are so crazy on ebay with the prices. Those might have to wait.

I wasn't originally going to buy any of the dolls in the collection. However, they are stunningly beautiful in person. I just started collecting dolls and this is a nice collection to start with. I just bought Rapunzel/Flynn this morning. I bought the very last Snow White my local Disneystore had. She is by far my favorite in the collection. I'm really excited for Rapunzel to arrive next week. She is stunningly beautiful.

You bought Rapunzel on eBay cheaper then retail? Congrats! I went in store, just so I didn't have to order it from the Disney Store website.

I would not be discouraged about eBay prices for the other dolls yet though, they have not come out and sharks are just over-inflating prices to scare us. I would say don't buy from them over retail prices until the fat lady sings. I think Belle and Ariel will be the hardest to get, but if you can go into a Disney Store, I think you might have a pretty good chance. Or even if you set an alarm for the website release. Rapunzel is still available on the website, and I think she is one of the more popular princesses in the set, and Snow White took two weeks to sell out. Last year for the villains, I just set an alarm for 3:00 AM (I'm on the East Coast) to get the Villains and I had no problem... granted, those were much higher edition sizes, but even if you look at the 17" Ariel that is coming out. She sold out within twelve hours, but if you go on right away you will have a pretty good chance of it! Best of luck to you trying to get Belle and Ariel! :)

EDIT:
Whoops! I didn't read that it was the original designer line you were talking about. Yeah... Belle and Ariel are up there, which is heartbreaking. I'm a Sophmore in college, so it basically becomes a game of "do I want to eat for a semester, or buy an Ariel designer doll..." You would be surprised how often I lean towards the doll... haha! :P But I've seen them pretty low on eBay before. The lowest Belle I ever saw went for around $150? And Ariel I saw one the other week for $200 and I almost bought it, until I read that it didn't have the COA... I was so upset! Otherwise, I've seen her go the lowest around $280, from my experience. Some day, they will be mine though!

I re-started my Disney doll collecting with the Designer Villains last year! The designer dolls are just a great way to start a collection. They are so classy in their cases.

Waiting for my check to arrive, hoping that Rapunzel & Flynn are still here when it does so I can get them!!!! Aargh, the anticipation is killing me.

For those into the originals, I have a Designer Ariel who was a display doll. She doesn't have her COA obviously, but she does have her slip cover - and she is completely perfect. At the price Ariel goes for, I just want to say from personal experience, that a display doll is still a great way to go if you want her. For those curious about a Display Ariel's value, I paid $250 for her including shipping, and haven't seen an Ariel go under that for a long time.

I would love to have the display doll if one was for sale. I think that is different from getting one that is missing its COA and is not a display doll though.

I just started collecting too. I knew about the Designer Princess dolls and the Villians when they came out because we go to the parks a lot, but I wasn't a doll collector at that point. I just started in Dec. Ive managed to get a lot off of my wishlist from ebay. But I still need DP Ariel and Belle - seems to be the hardest. I decided better to not miss out on the Fairytale Collection and regret it.

Yeah it was the Designer Princess. I stalk ebay every day now for Belle and Ariel. Its hard paying more than the retailed, and I don't want to support scalpers so I just keep trying to find one at a fair price.
