2013 Fairytale Designer Collection
Well, at least they will all have the same number. I just hope they are low #s. :)

Are we sure? I've seen a regular Snow White on ebay with Certificate number 215 (no picture, just in the description). I'm pretty sure more than 215 full sets were sold.

The set if preordered should all have the same edition number but you are not necessarily guaranteed a low number I believe that starry_solo was just stating that they hoped the edition size they receive will be a low one.

Do you guys think that Jasmine and Aladdin will sell-out quicker as well? I have to have that one for my collection because it is going to go in my dance studio! I am a belly dancer and her outfit is perfectly matched to a belly dancing costume!!! She will look wonderful in my dance studio! :D

I don't think they check the edition number when they send it out. I ordered two complete villains sets (one in the Fall of 2012 and one early this year) both came with matching number for the set. The one I ordered earlier was in the 900s and the one I ordered later was in the 200s. It's a hit or miss, but all of your dolls should be the same edition number, which is cool!

I don't think it will be hard to get Jasmine. Even with the short bangs and other issues, Rapunzel is still one of the most popular princess and arguably more popular than Jasmine and she has lasted at least one day. If you get your Jasmine the first day or two I think you will be okay. I am nervous about Ariel but still optimistic that if I buy early all will be well.

I just hope all the dolls I get in my set are perfect, I'm worries that with all the defects and quality issues that people have mentioned that something like that will happen to one of my dolls. Thing is by the time I do get my orders I am assuming the individual sale of the dolls will be sold out.

I agree with Shivatopia it is going to be a long month and a half and I am worry wart so not only am I worried that I am not going to be able to get the LE Eric and Ursula on release but that the my DFTC preorder set may have quality issues. So nervous I just want the end of October to get here already LOL.

Also as a side question is there a reason why Disney does all these LE releases at the end of the year, I noticed that Disney is not the only one that does this, as I plan on getting the ps4 in Nov, pokemon in oct. Is it because we are coming up to the holiday season? Wish they would spread it out a bit LOL.

What's this? A fellow geek? :D I know there's a thread for this somewhere on here...but I am too lazy to just click the necessary links. Which one are ya gonna get? Completely 50/50 on the fence about this whole Mega nonsense...but eh. I'm excited!

Although in my experience almost all Barbies are easy and cheap to find now unless they are in the Platinum level.

Very true, for the most part. There are a handful of Gold Label dolls that still sell for good amounts over their original retail price. Goddess dolls and mermaids usually do well in long-term. The Goddess/Medusa Barbie still sells for many times her original cost of $100; she's kind of like the Designer Ariel of the recent Barbie world. The 2010 Goddess/Cleopatra Barbie also sells for as much as $400. Doll popularity comes and goes, and certainly these very Disney dolls that we cherish may also fluctuate in value over time.

After hearing about the various quality issues already among the DFDC Snow White and Rapunzel dolls I am also a bit concerned that the doll set pre-orders may fall victim to smudges, bad hair, and the like. Oddly, I have not heard of any major problems with any of the DFDC male dolls... In any case, I will certainly raise a huge stink with pictures if there are any problems with the set, and a $20 online GC will not make up for it! It's bad enough that we have to wait until the end of the release schedule. The only advantage of pre-ordering is having all of the dolls with the same COA numbers. I always did wonder how they reserve the cartons of matching dolls for the pre-orders. Last year for the most part, the cartons were individually and separately numbered, so you could pretty much predict what your CoA number was by the carton number on the outside of the box (last year the CoAs were the carton number + 6). But this year, with dolls popping up in the retail stores with CoAs in the 200s, it makes one wonder. Is it at all possible that there were not as many doll set pre-orders sold at the D23 Expo and online on August 12th as we think? The 2011 Designer Princess dolls had no more than 250 or so complete doll set pre-orders sold and the individual doll LE sizes ranged from 4,000 to 8,000.

As for the doll merchandise explosions in the later half of the year, I think it is to promote sales leading up to the holidays. Does anyone know if these businesses operate on a fiscal year as opposed to the calendar year?

I was mad at first that I didn't get the full pre-order, but I'm a little relieved now... I am such a stickler about my dolls, I even take a flashlight in either on my keychain or phone to check them out at the store. It is good for me, although a little inconvenient, to just go in person so I don't have to fear getting one with bad quality control. There are pros and cons to each way of getting them. Pre-ordering the whole set is truly the only way you could guarantee getting all of the dolls, but going in person is the only way you can guarantee getting good dolls. I waste a lot of gas and time and run the risk of missing out on one, but at least I can make sure they don't have smudges or terrible hair. It sure makes for an interesting dilemma!

Haha yes I think it's because of pokemon that I became a collector haha. I even managed to collect all 151 figures of the original lot. I am getting both games as I usually need both haha.

Based on the financial statements it looks like they run on a fiscal year. I just cannot wait to get my dolls and for year end really because after the October maddness I'm going to have to get the Frozen merch in late Nov. all that before heading back into the quiet no doll period.

Based on the amount of reviews, Jasmine & Aladdin are the least favorite out of all the couples in the fairytale designer set. Even though in my opinion it's one my favorites & the best looking couple for this set. Jasmine's outfit is truly beautiful! Especially with the whole peacock design. & of course Aladdin is in his Prince Ali outfit! Not saying they're not going on clearance (which I highly doubt) but they might not sell out quickly as fast as the others. Which means good news for us who love the Aladdin & Jasmine in this set! :D

For the Pre-orderd sets numbers, I picked up Snow & her Prince, at the local store and she was number 35. I assumed that Disney would have held back the first set of numbers for all the pre-orders, now I have no clue. It would be crazy if they reversed the order this year and started with 6000 as the pre-sell. We will see mid Oct. to see what numbers were saved for the pre-orders.

Are the mugs limited? Or will they continue to restock? I'm thinking of getting my friend a Rapunzel mug, but I think my store sold out.

Regarding the Aladdin set, I agree that they probably won't sell as fast as Rapunzel (in stores anyway). And they're my favorite from this series, so that's not my own bias or anything. I think they'll sell better than Snow White. Really, I think the only stressful set will be TLM. Even BatB probably won't be too crazy.

But what do I know?

Now on to my second Rapunzel ns still not good. My first one that I bought Tuesday had stitching fault in flynns sleeve and a spot on rapunzels forehead. So I took that back and after looking at about 8 in the second store I found a perfect hair as most of them the hair was a mess. And then when I got home how I missed it but rapunzels dress and two holes at the front. Grrrrrr so I've had to send my other half to another different store and they said alot of them were poor but got the best one there. Now I'm anxious as I wasn't there! But come on Disney for £100 I expect these to be in perfect condition!! Quality control needs looking at!!!!!!!:(

here are some pictures i took , there are more in my flickr :http://www.flickr.com/photos/pupuceplus/

That too; hoping they are perfect dolls too!

Hmm I'm starting to get nervous after reading comments on here regarding shoddy dolls. I'm only getting Jasmine & Belle but I'm only able to get them online as nearest store is a good two hour trip. I had major issues last time with my designer princess Rapunzel she had a stain on her dress.

I hate that Disney don't care about any sort of quality control. When we are paying £100 for these dolls I expect nothing but perfection.

Well my other half has contacted me and said they tried to pawn him off with the one on display as they only had one out. When trying to back the second one this afternoon. He said no and they brought out about 5 or 6 going back to the stock room more than once . He said they were not happy about doing it which made the situation worse. Anyhow after looking through them all and even he is not obsessive as me said nearly everyone had messy hair loose stitching and which would I prefer out of the two I can live with. So I said asking as long is the hair is fine. So he picked one out of the two he thought was best! Now I stressing until I get home hoping its a good pick .
