Poor Cinderella! She's the only character I don't have any merchandise off and yet she's one of my favourite princess's.
Nothing that gets made of her really looks like her The designer looks like barbie and so does the LE. Even the couture deforce figure of her has an awful dress design when compared to other characters she always draws the short straw.

Is the LE nice in person? I love her dress! But the hair and face are wrong and I can't bring myself to spend as much on it as I would the others.

I totally have to agree that pretty much all of the Cinderella dolls lack the proper look for Cinderella. The dolls never quite have the correct features 100%. First, there is the coloration issue that they always put her in a blue dress, when her gown appears to be more silvery-white when she is not in the moonlight in the film (but one has to also consider that back in the mid-twentieth century, sometimes painting animation cells ended up not quite consistent). Then there is her haircolor, which should be a darker blonde, maybe even a strawberry blonde (I always have the hardest time deciding exactly what her hair color is, but it certainly is not the frosty platinum blonde that these dolls always have). And apparently recreating that triple-roll updo from the film seems to be impossible with any sort of hair--real or doll hair--which results in the Tinker Bell-like top bun look. Then, they never get the shape of her eyes and nose right: her eyes are more rounded than the standard almond-shaped doll eyes and her nose should be a lot rounder and a bit wider than the typical small Barbie-like nose that they often give her.

So to answer your question, I think my favorite Cinderella doll is actually the 1998 Mattel Signature Cinderella doll, because she has a beautiful gown in the proper style and is in the palest of blue satin with white puff sleeves and poofy side peplum panels and silver thread patterns all over the bodice. Her hair is a dark blonde with reddish tints, and they made a good effort to try to recreate her hairdo, with no extra ponytail sticking out in the back or with a mass of prom-dance pincurls. Her face is rather Barbie-like, but I think she still looks more like Cinderella than the DS dolls (that's my personal opinion, and many others may not agree).

From the DS collector dolls, I prefer Designer Cinderella over LE Cinderella, because she is meant to be a reimagining of Cinderella in 1950's type couture, including her hairdo. But I understand if she does not appeal to everyone's tastes. I also love the Marilyn Monroe-inspiration of her gown, even though it is not very "Cinderella."

With LE Cinderella, there are too many "I wish they had done..." moments for me. The majority of her gown design is great, except the sleeve straps. Where things fall apart for me is her hairdo, which draws too much from the 2012 redesign attempts, but topped off with the mass of pin curls, which is a far cry from Cinderella's sleek iconic updo. Then the pale cotton candy pink color of her lipstick really bothers me, because it makes her face look so washed out. If they had given her a darker coral pink lipstick color instead, she would have taken on a more appealing look for me, even with the big hair.

My favorite DS Cinderella doll is actually the Cinderella doll from the 2011 DS Princess 10-doll set, but I had to take that ponytail and pull it up and forward over her bun and secure it down to give her a more sleek hairdo. Her gown is in a sky blue color, but there is not much we can do about that. At least it is in the proper design, especially if you give her a petticoat to give her skirt more volume. Her facial features are still all-wrong, but all of the DS Cinderella dolls have this problem.

Sadly, at some point, Cinderella became the poster girl for the "Disney princess," and whenever that happened, she became something of a blank canvas for female Disney fans to imagine themselves in her place. As such, very little attention seems to have been given to her with the intent of producing true film-accurate dolls for her. The fact that she is a popular blonde fictional character also made it easy to "Barbie-ize" her, because Barbie is so popular.

I don't mind the blue dress because most people identify Cinderella with blue but it should be a pale blue not dark blue! But it changes shades so many times in the film, I guess it's hard to perfect the colour but it should be light blue at the very least.

Overall I like the LE dress, the colour doesn't bother me but the pale lipstick and the bright blonde hair really bothers me. It's a shame as I have LE Elsa,blonde Rapunzel, Ariel and will get Aurora so if I had Cinderella I would have all my favourites but she just doesn't look like her.

I think the 98 Mattel Cinderella is the best doll to date, it looks like barbie yes, but so does the Disney store ones and at least mattel got the colours right.

Yes, Cinderella is the constant hair color-changing princess. At times her hair seems more reddish, but most of the time it is a light golden brown-ish (sandy blonde?) color. But in the movies, Cinderella is never a platinum blonde! Aurora is always hands-down a golden/ash blonde.

wow you're right about the dress! but I wasn't familiar with the doll so I googled it..you totally got the face right and they did not. I'm not sure why the doll manufacturers can't get such accurate faces especially on the 2D characters. maybe they should hire you as a consultant!

Cinderella is my mom's favorite, so I tend to buy her pieces. I adjusted the hair color on cheap Classic Cinderella (one with dark blue dress that came out a few years ago) and switched dress to assessory pack maid outfit. So much better. You really have to because, as you all stated, Cinderella dolls are never quite right. Such a shame.
