So, I bought a Thor marquee

pin98938
Pin 98938: DSF - Marquee - Thor: The Dark World
Pin PD79264: DSF - El Capitan Marquee - Thor: The Dark World

After not receiving it and getting no email from PayPal with the tracking number (this is sent when you use the "print label" feature that appears when someone pays as goods), I sent a message to the seller and got the delivery confirmation number, only to find out that the post office says IT WAS DELIVERED 12 days ago! No idea where it went and when we went to the post office today, :dunno: was their response (well, that, shrugging of shoulders [can't find the icon], and "if it says it was delivered, it was.")

From another seller, I bought these two pins:

and

which I still haven't received the delivery confirmation for :(

I guess the last week of January is not good for purchases, at least for me.

Thanks for letting me vent.

Sorry to hear about this.
I had a minor panic attack the other day when one I bought was listed as "Out for delivery" in a town about 45 mins away.
Somehow it was sorted through Philly's main hub wrong. That's fine and all, but what concerns me is that it went through the sorting process of the post office it ended up at, got on a truck and was out for delivery. Luckily the delivery man flagged it and had it rerouted through the system.

This also had one of the computer printed labels - had no tape over the barcode that they always tell you not to tape over too. Figured that maybe the barcode got messed up somehow - but when I got it, it was in pretty much perfect condition.

The BF also sends out a lot of things related to his job. He dropped something off at a post office a few weeks ago. It was a flat rate envelope with the guaranteed date and all, paid for the shipping label online. 2 weeks went by and it never showed up in the tracking system, and the person didn't get it. 3 days after calling the post office and asking what was going on (they claimed they had no idea and it wasn't in their system) it showed up at the recipient's house. The only thing the tracking showed was "Delivered" when he checked after the person called to say they got it. Nothing else, just "Delivered".

Not a fan of the post office so far this year.

Especially when they raise the rates for shipping, I expect no problems like this.

That's horrible!! If the post office said they delivered it, but you never received it, then maybe it didn't really get delivered??? Did you ask the sender how it was packaged? Maybe it got mixed in with magazines or something. A pin was delivered to me in a box & it was left outside our front door....it was a very expensive pin, too! I was not happy to see that...I'd rather pick it up at the PO.

i hope it turns up!!!

Sorry to hear about this, I just found out a package I've been waiting for a week for that got mysteriously forwarded for no reason is being returned to the sender! :P

Oh no Li, I'm so sorry to hear the bad pin news. The mail deliverers are getting a bit lax lately in IMO. They delivered something of mine next door a few days ago and a couple of weeks ago they delivered something to my house that was supposed to be delivered to someone who lived like 8 houses up from us.

I hope everything works out with the Beauty and the Beast pins and I hope the Thor marquee turns up!

I'm going back tomorrow to see what can be done. I'm on the phone now with USPS.com to see if I can file a claim for a lost package (even though it was uninsured)

I've said more than once that the postal service stinks nowadays. It is due to the cutbacks of the postal workers. We are lucky if we get mail nowadays, but then again we have had visits from Elsa every 3 days.
So much for the motto through rain and hail, wind or snow, the mail will get through.
Li, hope your pins turn up. I'm waiting for some pins from a member, but I know it's the postal service.

Makes you wonder...increased rates but lousier service! The blue regulation postal box where I live is being removed Feb 28. So they want to increase stamp cost but take away the box to drop the mail???!!!

That stinks! I hate it when you have a genuine problem, and you only get a shrug in response. So frustrating. I hope it turns up somehow and that the others are on their way even as we speak (err... type).

Update, it took 20 minutes on hold before I was connected to a live person. I've opened up a case with USPS.com and they will send an email to the postal supervisor in charge of post office boxes. This isn't the first time mail sent to the PO box has been marked as delivered when it hasn't, but it's the first time they've failed to find the package (of course, usually I know the tracking # and can get there within a day or two of the post office marking it delivered but this time, I wasn't given a tracking # until this weekend!)

Moral of the story: make sure to give tracking #s out to your recipients ASAP so any potential problems can be sorted out quicker, rather than almost two weeks after "delivery."

I'll keep you all updated! Crossing fingers the package shows up upon closer inspection at the post office.

I understand your frustration. I have had 2 post office issue in the past month myself (without having any for about a year prior.)

I bought pins from someone the first week of January and according to tracking, the pin still has not left Orlando. It has been there since January 16th and they just keep pushing the delivery date out. No one can find it and luckily they weren't LE and easy enough to replace.

However, a package I sent out was never scanned in when it was received. No one could figure out where it was, and then a week later it popped up as out for delivery across the country...everything in between was non existent in the system, but at least my package made it.

What's really weird is that all my mail is sent to a post office box so it's gotta be lying somewhere on the floor somewhere there :P

Oh no! Li I'm so sorry this happened to you! Those pins are not cheap or easy to find :( Hopefully everything will turn up. I sent something out last month that took 3 weeks to arrive, and trying to get help from someone at USPS is almost impossible! Best of luck. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Sorry to hear, bet you wish you could get in there and look for it yourself! So aggravating, and no quick resolution, argh frustrating! Hope it all works out Li

Oh noes! That sucks... Not too long ago, maybe 2 1/2 months ago, Mayasworld4u sent me a package that got lost -- had $50 insurance on it -- and it still hasn't been found. We've contacted USPS... escalated the problem to some federal department, they won't let me request the $50 for the insured package, has to be Mayasworld4u... seriously, a complete pain...

I hope this doesn't happen to yours!!

Probably not, it probably got put in the wrong box and whoever did get it didn't return it. There seems to be a lot less pride taken by the people at the post office. We had an amazing mail lady but she retired. We could always tell when it was a fill in driver. Stuff was delivered to the wrong addresses consistently. But why should they worry about their jobs. A local postal worker was caught stealing mail and wasn't fired. I don't know what you have to do to get fired, but come on.

I'm sorry to hear this Li. I'm not to happy with the USPS right now either. I had my mail forwarded to our new address over a month ago and other then the confirmation letter, we haven't recieved "any" forwarded mail. It doesn't help that we have W'2s yet to arrive...

Since we're telling crazy PO stories and this one is not pin related, so there is less horror involved. I received a Christmas card returned due to lack of postage. Sounds logical. I was not the sender OR recipient. The card was sent from a different city and was sent to a different city. Neither of the addresses was even close to my address. No match on numbers, street, or city! But wait it gets better. I returned the card to the PO since I was dropping off some packages. The next day....you guessed it.....the card was delivered to me again as missing postage.

Li,
let me know if the Marquee never shows up for you.

That was my thinking, if it was a PO box, maybe it was put in the wrong one... The delivery confirmation would have been scanned as they were preparing a cart full of packages for the 'PO Box isle', not necessarily as it went into your box in particular... Print up a little 'This item was lost' poster and stick it on the wall near your box. If it was put in a neighboring box, maybe that person will still have it and be nice enough to return it.
