Hey guys :wavey:
So I am in search of new traders, because I'm getting ready to gear
up for my first pin trading night on march 28. However,
as I'm looking on eBay, do the original backing cards really matter
when it comes to pin trading? Because there are tons of great traders that I see
on eBay, but they don't have their original backing card. So do I spend the money
for a good trader pin even though it doesn't have it's original backing card
or just search for pins with it's original backing cards. I just don't want to get a good pin without
it's original backing card and people aren't going to trade with me because of that reason… :anxious:​
 
to some people it matters and to others it doesn't. To me, if it just came on a regular black backing card then I could care less if it has it's backing card or not. If it came on a special backing card then it would be nice to have it on that card but if it's not then it's still not a deal breaker for me. That's just how I feel and may not reflect how others feel.
 
For me personally it doesn't matter much unless it is something like a podm. Then most people want the original backer card. When I first started nobody cared about the cards. Now a great number of people seem to care about them.

Just be careful on the pins you buy off of ebay. There are a ton of people selling fake pins. Do some research on the seller. Are they selling the same pins over and over again. Do they sell large quantity pins at an unreal price. If the answer is yes to either question avoid them. They might not be selling fakes, but the chances are that they are selling them.

Thank you guys for the great advice. & yes, I thoroughly research the pin they're selling and the seller him/herself before I buy any pin. I hate being scammed! Counterfeits/ scrappers can literally ruin a trader's day :(
 
It depends who you are trading with. I keep my pin card backs, so if I decide to trade a pin from my collection, I still have the original card, but when I am trading with someone, it doesn't bother me if it is on a card or not. Some collectors will only accept pins that are on their backs though.

Well I hope when I go to PTN, people will trade with me even though I don't have the original backing card. I just bought this pin

and the trade/want ratio is really good. But it just doesn't come with it's original backing card :(



 
I personally don't mind but I've seen people get really finicky about having the original backer card. I think with PoDMs and BTs people really like those cards but tend to be more flexible with other pins
 
For me it depends. Some of my collections I like to be on cards - like the piece of history pins because they tell you whats inside the bubble.

In general I just always keep all my backers if I have them and will put a post it note on it with what pin it goes with if I am keeping them separate from the pins. This way if I ever want them, end up trading them, or need to sell them, I have it.
 
Main collections, I'm picky and like everything just-so. Side collections, don't really care as they are more relaxed for me and just for fun.
